The Somerset Arms — Restaurant in Wales

We have often visited this pub and enjoyed good food, great service and very reasonable prices in the past. Unfortunately, we visited recently (last week) to find that things have changed and very much for the worse. It must have changed hands since the last time we were there. The meal was totally inedible - frozen chips which were raw, grey, horrible looking fish, dry mashed potato, which was suspiciously like "Smash" , a pie with horrible pastry and very dry. We expressed our disappointment only to be met with a total lack of interest. I would encourage potential customers to check when positive comments were posted, as they could be from the time before the current people took over. Needless to say, we will never be going back as long as these people are there. I really wanted to give no stars, but the site won't permit...

Popped in on a friday evening for a meal as we finished late from work.. Was seated in an empty restaurant and promptly ordered drinks... Waitress was pleasant and came and took our order... So far so good.... The starter we ordered came as a side order instead of starter... Easy mistake... Then came main course... Steak pie.... Pastry was black... Pointed out to waitress... She said very sorry and continued to go and get gravy for us... On return pointed out the black pastrty... Again she said she was sorry.... At no point was our concerns offered to be corrected... We ate what we could... Paid up and left... No wonder the restaurant is empty... Was over priced and poor Quality......

Attentive friendly staff and the food that I ordered was enjoyable. Was advised that there was a bit of a wait for food but to be honest my food order arrived in reasonably quick time (and I'm from London where the pace of life tends to be quicker). They offer a small and a large portion size of fish and chips - the one in the photo was of their small portion which was plenty large enough even for my healthy appetite!
