The Star Inn, Mamhilad — Restaurant in Wales

Wish I could less than this star as my experience was terrible. When first entering the pub seemed lovely and the staff were very friendly. As it was Sunday I though let's have a Sunday roast wish I went for a ham sandwich and a packet of crisps now as there would of been more food. 2 piece's of chicken, a small piece of stuffing, 1 roast potatoe, and 2 other potatoes that were unbeatable as they were rock hard and also a small amount of veg which was meant to serve two but could barely feed one and wasn't that nice anyway. But hey I'm an easy going guy so I thought just let them know when they ask. So as a lady came around and asked "is everything ok with your meal" my response (which I didn't think was to harsh) was nice but a little small. Now considering I am paying customer an apology would of done, but the response I had was " oh well you should of eaten more veg" and not an apology in sight.

Been a few times lately and never been dissapointed! Great food and drinks, really friendly, helpful and chatty staff (including the landlady) and a perfectly picturesque country pub setting! Ample outdoor seating area so you can always find a quiet spot in the sun or shade regardless of how busy. The only constructive criticism would be that there could be a greater variety of shots, some basics like Sambuca and tequila are missing off the menu, and it was a shame that the 4 pint pitchers weren't available on the most recent visit - fortunately nothing a 4 pint order can't solve! Really nice little country pub, picturesque church opposite and a quiet rural location ideal for sitting out in the beer garden of a summers evening but with real log fires and cosy nooks inside making it an excellent winter retreat also. Food is really very good striking a rare balance between quality food and a wide selection. They recently catered for a large family meal for us and the service was friendly and efficient. It doesn't have any play equipment for the kids, it also doesn't have the widest selection of drinks, though what it does have is pretty good. These are the only things stopping me offering a...
