My friends and I stopped here on our way back from the Aviation Museum at St Athan for some lunch and i am do glad we did. We all had starters and mains and they were to die for. Traditionally home cooked food with so much flavour. Hats off to the chef. It was so nice to sit in an oldy worldy pub with so much character. The young lady who served us, both drinks and food, was really polite and friendly and we all felt so relaxed in the wonderful atmosphere. Thank you so much for a lovely lovely experience. 🫶

The Star has had a fresh make over with good furniture making it more accessible, fresh and light, very comfortable, new chef with a great menu, the food is amazing and reasonably priced, highly recommended this country village pub. Excellent food, presentation 👌 good quality wine 🍷 with a reasonably priced menu.

disappointing, overpriced, lack of attention to detail, frozen chips. We called in mid day, were the first in and only ones to be served, starving but hard to find something we fancied on the menu so plumped for Ham Egg & chips, basic stuff. my wife's egg was under-cooked, some of the white was clear. the chips were frozen, I like frozen chips, the ham - was ham. We've had better in cafes for half the price, the bread had mold on it and had been buttered quickly with a great dollop in the middle and little at the edges, no problem plenty to spread on the edges. But at the time we were the only ones eating, others did come in while we were there but hadn't ordered, so there was no pressure, so why serve mouldy bread? we had eaten here before and were not impressed then but gave it another shot hoping it had improved because we were hungry and passing....

Tried The Star Inn for the first time today after a recommendation. On arrival there was a roaring fire lit and the Inn looked cosy and warm on a miserable wet day. Ordered drinks at the bar and were shown to our table straight away. The staff were lovely and friendly and we got chatting to other diners and overall the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. Superb menu choices. I had chicken livers for a starter which was absolutely delicious and my partner had the soup, broccoli and stilton, which again was delicious. We both had the roast beef which came with delicious vegetables (proper not frozen!!) And for dessert we both had the creme brulee. The food was superb. This may have been our first visit but it certainly won't be our last. Excellent experience. Well...

Booked in advance for 8 for Sunday Lunch. Table wasn't ready when we got there but we didn't mind that. We ordered food with not so friendly staff she came with the food and got it wrong then came back with attitude saying you ordered 2 lambs which we agreed when she went back to kitchen it was her mistake she mistook pork for lamb but didn't apologise just huffed then we asked for mash and Swede which it said on menu we were supposed to have a she just said no that's it. A different member of staff (friendly)came and we asked her then she told us they had run out which I felt we should have been told before. Food was excellent just a shame we didn't get all veg and a friendlier service. Very disappointed as its put us off going again. But can't...
