Mmm rather disappointed... Planned on eating at The Star after our very nice walk. To our dismay were told rather bluntly "No food stopped serving at two thirty" Mmm it was two thirty-five!! But no need for the attitude.

I enquiry on there local beer's as it's Camra listed house... the first beer ended in a splutter and was discarded... The barmaid offered her assistance on another.... she was rapidly hushed (I'm a little confused why that happened) very quickly my attention was directed towards another...

The saving grace was and hence two stars the beer I eventually tasted was very nice..... it had been imported from Hereford.

All in all a strange experience not what I expected as there are other public houses in the village of which I assume are competitive and will no doubt get our custom the next time we visit that...

(Posting as Bex Dumble together with Martyn, and Dotty the Wirehaired Dachshund). We stayed at Talybont farm Sept 21 and came here for drinks and evening meals. We received a warm and friendly welcome on each visit. Good selection of ales and the food was wonderful. We stayed at the farm again from 5 - 8 May 22 and returned here twice every day. Nothing has changed. We can't recommend this pub enough. The owners work extremely hard and are very accommodating. The young daughter was delightful and super efficient. Maisie the pub's dog's antics, for a 15 and a half year old, are highly entertaining! Note: It's so popular it's wise to book in advance for evening meals. **Update: just returned from a 4 day camping trip (11 to 14 June 23). Still excellent...

My partner and I stayed in Talybont-on-Usk for a long weekend over the May bank holiday and were directed to The Star Inn for an evening meal after a long drive. ||The food was amazing!!! The service was a little different to what we are used to at the bar as they rely on you to say who is next and you really have to be assertive in order to be served but the service is very friendly when you get it. We enjoyed The Star Inn so much we immediately booked a table for the next evening and then that evening we booked for lunch the next day. Everything we ate was perfect even when we just had sandwiches!! Particular favourites were the Fish and Chips, the Burger and the Duck. ||||100%would come back here. The kitchen, serving and bar staff are all...

The Star Inn is a little gem set in the Usk Valley. There are always a good range of beers on tap. The staff are friendly and the pub is clean and well kept. We didn't eat on this occasion but the menu displayed a range of foods at reasonable prices. It was a welcomed after a day's walking in the Black Mountains - on an extremely hot day. The Star is a must visit

Great little pub. There is a large garden too by a stream. We came here several times during our stay and each time the service and food was excellent. The Covid guidelines seemed safe. The menu was basic for Covid reasons which was slightly disappointing but understandable. However the food was lovely. All said, this is a friendly local pub
