We would normally never post a review, but unfortunately we had a very disappointing experience. Came for Saturday dinner, encouraged by all the positive reviews both here and TripAdvisor. Firstly, the atmosphere and appearance of the restaurant section was a shame; kind of tatty, mold on the walls, and overall a bit lacking of TLC. It was near empty on the Saturday evening we went. However the main letdown was the quality of food- we ordered the braised beef, steak and kidney pie, red Thai curry and fajita wraps. While the portions for some meals were decent, the pie was sickly level of salty, and the greens on the side for both the pie and beef was uninspired and plain tasting. Additionally, the red "Thai" curry was shocking, as it really did not taste at all like how it is offered in other places.. instead of a dish bursting with flavours, we were given something that lacked any emotions or distinctive flavours like lemongrass or even coconut milk :( Especially considering this was our most expensive main, it was a big letdown. The quality of meat (and amount of salmon especially) was pleasantly surprising, but again, it's such a shame the sauces let the whole dishes down. We did not finish the pie or curry from feeling sickly. Unfortunately will not be visiting again, especially with spending £80 for 4 people (mains+ 3 soft drinks) for a disappointing meal. It seems the other reviews praising value, atmosphere and quality of meals are mostly outdated, which is a shame. We appreciate the nice waitress who took our feedback well, and hope the food improves for future customers. Enjoyed the beef and fajitas.

This is a fantastic little pub - quite the find. Unassuming and totally authentic, with a really warm welcome from the friendly landlord and some good ales on tap. Best of all are the homemade pies - delicious shortcrust pastry, excellent flavours, and large portions!

Called in by chance after trying to find dog friendly pubs. Excellent Sunday dinner and very reasonable. Lovely drinks too. The staff were lovely and chatty. Will definitely call again soon even though we live quite a few miles away.

This was the worst meal I have ever had when eating out. The chunky chips looked as if the oil they were cooked in was in desperate need of being changed. The steak was requested as being cooked to medium and this was almost black and the salad accompaniment looked very bland and unappetising so much so that I couldn’t have eaten a replacement me that was offered. Also noted that several items that were on the menu were unavailable. I would certainly not recommend this place to anyone and we also informed the B & B where we were staying not to...
