Stayed here overnight on our way back home. Decent enough stay, didn't hear any noise, good location, close to the m4, nice view from the hotel and plenty of parking. Hotel room itself needs a little updating, bathroom looks as though It may have been done at some point (bonus is the bathroom we had at least was huge!) shower cubicle and separate bath. Mould developing quite bad in areas due to other people not airing the place efficiently. Looks as though they're doing things to prevent it though still there. Bed was comfy and room was fine. Carpet has stains absolutely everywhere, but just wear socks and it's OK. Clean at least. No smoking in any rooms which is the norm and great, though because there's a smokers area at the top of the fire exit, there is a cigarette smell, but I guess can't be helped. General areas are clean and the bar seems good enough plenty of choices of beer. Sadly we arrived too late for the food. Kitchen closed at 7+30/8 on Saturday night, seemed a little early but is what it is. Breakfast in the morning, bit of a disappointment really. First thing no hot water for the coffee, no milk for the breakfast or coffee, no bread for toasting, no toaster for toasting but possibly not even an option, no juice available, no croissants to help yourself to, all seemed a little chaotic and like we were asking for too much. Possibly an oversight for things like that but if you're going to offer such as coffee or cereal then make sure the necessities for make such things are there. Breakfast is from 8 we arrived for breakfast 8:15. All in all a pleasent stay, would visit for the pub again, but not necessarily to stay.

I'm very disappointed with this place. Looks lovely outside and made big wow when we arrived. Unfortunately it was only stop on our journey so we arrived late and try leave early after breakfast. When we arrived very helpful gentleman ( I think somebody said manager) check me in and share all useful information about the place. The room was big, bright and nice. Need update, but was clean and well kept. Fresh bedding and towels, tea and coffee in the room. I will say 9/10 for the hotel part of the place. The problem was with the pub part. When we arrived around 8 they said kitchen is closed, they not serving any more food. In the morning was not better. We were the first people for breakfast. Young lady said we can sit anywhere and choose our option. She said in the waiting time continental part is for us for free and we can make there tea or coffee. Great. The problem was the place wasn't set up. There wasn't hot water, no milk for the cornflakes, no juices or tap water. When we ask her she said everything is there- but wasn't... We have to asked three times about stuff and then she was bringing everything. She sounded like she was annoyed with me but it wasn't my fault. Good there is a jam and honey but not croissants, bread or toast. Couple next to us asked about it and they bake for them fresh but Im not sure if that should work like that. They didn't ask us about it. Apart from that my breakfast was tasty (but messed up as the lady mix my and my partner's order...) I wish to give more star because this place is lovely. I hope come back in some point and hopefully update my review and give more stars.

When I arrived the pub/Hotel looked lovely with lots of people outside enjoying the sunshine and a few drinks. I went to the reception area and received a friendly welcome from Carys who offered to take my bags and then showed me to my room pointing out the out of hours exit and what to do in case of a fire alarm activation. The room was spotlessly clean spacious and well furnished including lots of tea, coffee and milk etc. There was a large ensuite that was ideal for my needs. When I went down to the bar I had a couple of drinks chatting to the staff and locals and felt very welcome. I then enjoyed a delicious supper which was very reasonably priced. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Carys and her team for such a lovely stay. Thoroughly recommended. Would I stay again? Yes definitely.

We came here after a funeral. We were early, our table had to be put together, though a larger later booking was already done. The Real Ale I ordered wasn't available, and there were numerous errors with the food we ordered, the vegan burger was served with coleslaw not the vegan side on the menu, the fish and chips was soggy, the chips stingy, the mixed grill had a cremated deep fried sausage, why its called a mixed grill because its grilled, and the sausage would contaminate the fryer. Puddings were OK, again there was a little confusion. Can do better Brains. In my opinion the Phoenix at Gorslas is a much better run offering from the same company
