We stopped here for a sandwich halfway through a walk. The staff were lovely (really can't fault them at all, every person we interacted with was very pleasant) and the food was very tasty.
There's a couple of reasons for 4 stars instead of 5. The sandwiches only had filling in the centre, so they looked lovely and full, but had a good chunk of unfilled, unbuttered bread all around the edges. This is a pet hate of mine as it intimates a lack of care in preparation. They came with a little bit of very good coleslaw, undressed salad and nice crisps, so it's still a good meal, but this does let it down.
Also, with the pot of tea, there was no extra pot of hot water to top up, and the tea for two was literally one cup of tea each, plus a tiny extra dribble (as in about an extra 1/4 cup for one person). The cafetiere coffee again was a one cup serving, despite coming in a decent size cafetiere. Adding enough water for a second cup is hardly going to break the bank, so this just felt stingy.
We also had cakes, and the lemon and poppyseed was extremely good, and I say that as a baker. My husband had a flapjack which he said was...

Tuna sandwich and coronation chicken sandwiches were good but not great, probably out of catering packs rather than being hand made on the premises, and not spread to the edges of the sandwich. Accompanied by a small portion of coleslaw, salad, and a few crisps, both dishes "filled a hole" as we were hungry, but we wouldn't rave about them. Pot of Welsh tea was lovely though, but obviously didn't require preparation as such. Enough for 2 1/2 small cups. Caffitiere of coffee gave just over 1 cup which was very disappointing for 3 quid!
My wife said the lemon cake was very good indeed, albeit a bit small.
Terrible (but free) WiFi unless you're in the actual building. Conservatory or outside seating... forget it!
They have a captive market being the only eatery for miles, and along some long walking routes, so I guess they don't have to...

We stayed here for two nights in the dog friendly family room - and it is exactly that! The ideal space and set up to bring your best furry friend along with you. The room is spacious and was extremely clean with doors opening out into the beautiful gardens. The staff are very welcoming and friendly - and were so good with our dog (treating him to some sausage for breakfast so he didnβt feel left out!) The tearoom is fantastic - we enjoyed cake and prosecco when we arrived and also ordered the platter for dinner - highly recommend! Even though the tearoom shuts at 4pm, we could still enjoy our platter sat out on the tables in the evening - a real treat! If you are looking for a relaxing break in the most magical of locations, you must visit! Thanks for having us! We will be...
