What a find! Located on the edge of a reservoir at the end of the dead end road. You wouldn't find this place unless you were really searching for it. And that adds to its charm. An old school tea room serving a range of classic cakes and drinks. We had a lovely, warm welcome from Kath, the owner. Being October, we were the only visitors which made it even more pleasant. Kath was really friendly and even accommodated our three year olds request for ice cream. They were sold out but he was served a scoop of vanilla from their personal freezer! Thank you. There's a very scenic walk from the tea room up towards the old quarry, but make sure you have waterproof footwear: At one point the path and the stream are the same thing. Really good fun for adventurous little ones. This five star review is written based on what I feel a tea room in a location such as this should be like. This is exactly it! I would highly recommend this place if you fancy a scenic walk with a hot drink and cake at the end. They also serve lunch items such as sandwiches and toasties.

I had been walking here several times but only after chatting with Kath, the owner, did I realise there was a Tea Room, so on a glorious day last week I returned with ‘Burger’, my dog. The setting is glorious, mountains, a lake, an old slate quarry, an abandoned village and distant views of the eerie Gothic slate mill. Sitting in the sunny garden, admiring the views was incredibly relaxing and peaceful. I enjoyed my tasty cheese sandwich and squashes whilst ‘Burger’ snoozed on the lawn. Kath was charming and hospitable and showed me the Tea Room which was beautifully arranged. Lots of walks and hikes nearby and a fascinating Woollen Mill not far away.

I’ve anyways wanted to try the tearoom experience and how lucky I am to come across this place on our trip in Wales. It’s run by a lovely lady in her own home and garden near a lake and up in the hills! The best way to experience the Welsh warm hospitality. We all had the Cream tea, a cup of tea with scone, jam & clotted cream. I don’t need to say that everything was homemade and delicious. We will be back if we go back to Wales again - it’s a must if you’re driving by the area. The only recommendation I’d say is some nice background music would add a lot to the atmosphere especially when you’re the only customer in the room.
