So very disappointed. Have visited here a good few times and our family have always chosen Tyn-y-Capel when arranging a big family meal. We pre booked the meals as requested to then be told sorry only roasts on a Sunday now so everyone had to be chased up and told, we were disappointed but still looking forward to the meal. However when we went today it was complete shambles. Turned on time to wait whilst they went and sorted the table out after it being pre-booked for weeks. I assume they’d forgotten about us, not to bothered about that. Fast forward to food coming and two of the children’s meals were undercooked, still raw in the middle of the burgers. We retuned these and 20 minutes later they were brought out. The SAME BURGERS! They had recooked them with the bun. So the bun was partially burnt and rock solid stuck to the burger. Two roasts turned up over 20 minutes after the rest of our food. When we was waiting for the puddings (which we pre-ordered on the phone) we were told they don’t exist anymore and have to pick of the very small new menu which nobody had liked. So the waiters were polite and tried their best although I think management need to support them more and think of...

This year my husband and I decided to go to a nice restaurant on Boxing Day for dinner. Our choice fell on the Tyn-y-Capel. We were definitely encouraged by the price of a great set, for a three-day meal we paid £ 22.95 per person. The restaurant is located in the new part added to the old pub building. A quite attractive place, from the windows you can admire the beautiful panorama of the mountains. It was already dark and foggy (we will definitely come back to see this view for sure). The place is refreshed but rather modestly decorated. We did not wait too long for the meal, the staff has a little communication problem because earlier I sent our selection of the set by e-mail and on the spot it turned out that they do not know anything about it in the kitchen. For us, it was not a problem, we chose what we wanted once again, but in the future the hosts should pay attention to it, because maybe someone will write to them with some special dietary recommendations, etc. First class starter, we liked it very much. Main course ok but somehow nothing special and delicious cheesecake for dessert. The place is very clean, a bit off the beaten track so there are no...

Not sure who's making the decisions these days but way too much space is given over to the dining area which is only ever busy on Sundays. More often than not this leaves the bar area overly crowded. It also doesn't help that the staff spend a lot of their time chatting to each other in the dining area when it isn't busy and seemingly oblivious to customers are waiting to be served in the bar area. They should have it like it used to be or at the very least have one member of staff permanently stationed in the bar section, or perhaps a bell for attention? Otherwise it's a nice enough pub, although they constantly run out of the real ales, leaving just lager/Guinness/John Smiths on tap 50% of the time, how they can't get their ordering right is beyond me?! 🤷 Plus it's noticeably more expensive than other pubs in the area. Feels like you're paying for the views/location but being let down by the lack of beer and poor service. Additionally glass collection in the outside seating area leaves a lot to be desired as quite often looks a shambles, staff too busy chatting no doubt 🙄 Overall 3/5 primarily because of...

I'd never heard of this pub before until my granddaughter moved nearby recently. Food was lovely. Sunday lunch was 3 courses £19.50 and very generous portions. Thoroughly recommend the black pudding, smoked bacon and goats cheese stack. A beautiful view across to what I think is the start of World's End. It must be fantastic to sit on the terrace on a sunny day. Lots of tables and booths outside. Will be back to try their regular menu.

A great local pub with plenty of views to look at. Even if the weather's bad the huge windows show a great view of the valley and mountains. Great beer great food and a bouncy castle to keep the kids entertained. Across the road is st.marys church a outstanding building that can be seen from the outside seating area. All in all an amazing place for a quick pint after a walk in the country or a night out.
