Y Bwyty Bach at Tretower Court — Restaurant in Wales

We visited Y Bwyty Bach for our anniversary last night and had a lovely evening. The restaurant is in a beautiful setting with fantastic views of welsh countryside along side Tretower Court & Castle. The building itself is unique and we loved admiring the original features which had been kept. The food was some of the best I’ve had, we loved all the dishes but especially the tunworth and sourdough crumpet, I was hoping I’d have room for another one at the end of the evening, maybe next time! The staff were polite, attentive and friendly, one of the servers was happy to accommodate me when I asked for a cocktail which wasn’t on their menu which I really appreciated. I felt every aspect of the restaurant was very well thought out, I liked the positioning of the seating for tables of two, as appose to being sat opposite each other, tables are positioned so you can sit next to each other, which made it easy to converse with your partner and share plates. The petit fours with our “happy anniversary” message in chocolate was such a lovely touch. My only small criticism would be the music. Although by the end of the evening it wasn’t so noticeable, “in da club” seemed an odd choice given the setting and for the first half of the evening I found the music distracting, however I don’t feel this should effect my rating as everything else...

It’s been a long time since I’ve experienced such a high standard of service and professional care with attention to detail presented by the waiting staff members. Welcoming, charming and a thorough knowledge of each dish they served us. The staff obviously take pride in their service which is rare these days. First class. The six courses we experienced were individually divine. Each one with its unique presentation and mouthwatering flavours. We enjoyed every course and tried dishes we would have shied away from prior to our visit bur as it was a Set menu we embraced each dish and became more adventurous in the process.

Absolutely superb on every level. A beautiful building in stunning surroundings. The staff were utterly charming and the FOOD! We had a simple lunch but every mouthful was a taste sensation. Newly opened, I guarantee this place will win multi awards. It is an intimate space so will get booked out.I spoke to the 3 very young chefs - one of which I discovered was the owner and head chef.
