Y Gegin Fawr — Restaurant in Wales

Had the strangest experience here yesterday. We asked the waitress if there were any tables available at about 4pm. The waitress was incredibly angry and said that they had had a really busy day and she needed to clean the tables. We left because we didn’t feel welcome but came back about 10 minutes later because there was nowhere else serving food and we were desperate after having walked 15 miles of the wales coast path. The woman was absolutely livid with us and told us to sit down but that they closed at 5pm so we would have to be quick. We ended up leaving again because we felt really uncomfortable and obviously didn’t want to spend our money in a place that would talk to us like this.

It costs nothing to be kind and to simply tell us in a polite manner that they were closing soon would have sufficed. Really shook us up and unfortunately put a dark cloud over our day and our experience of Aberdaron as a whole.

Cool little cafe in Aberdaron. Stopped in spontaneously for lunch while briefly in the village. Good sandwich, good coffee (although not as hot as I'd like, but nowhere seems to serve coffee hot enough for me). We sat upstairs in the eaves and were the only people up there which felt odd, but we were rather late and there were quite a few people sitting outside (we were taking a break from the sun). The toilet was an outhouse with a clear corrugated plastic rough which felt odd and it was super hot in there. (On the day we were there, the cistern was dripping which left the floor wet, but I suspect that's been sorted by now.) Be warned: the stairs are steep and the ceilings very low! Stopped off here for my Daughter to have a children's packed lunch. We were happy with the speedy service and my little girl loved the activity bag her lunch pack came in.

I was more than a little surprised however to hear a customer being advised that there was a 50p charge for a glass of tap water... To top it off the Mom had just been overcharged (£50+ versus £25)... I appreciate everyone makes mistakes but I felt so very sorry for the Mom. As we all know refunds onto cards take a few working days to land in the bank so i do hope this didnt scupper their...
