The in laws booked a restaurant to the eagle inn whilst we were camping at a near by site. I was instantly miffed as i was not consulted about the decision and was well aware of how my standards and the outlaws standard of what was good food were poles apart. After a mini strop and believing we were down to eat at the only place that allowed their spoilt pair of dogs i started to research the views.
As you know, they were all glowing so i had to get ready for both great food and humble pie.
We checked out the place at lunch with specific attention to their draft ale choice. (Psss its excellent) I could see.a few covers whiz past us and i knew the food was gonna be great.
Back to the campsite i went with a few ales to digest and i was so excited you would have though it was my restaurant of choice.
There was 10 of us. 2 seniors 4 adults 2 teenagers 2 primary school kids.
We ordered 3 starters 10 mains 9 puds and a coffee.
Believe me when i say all dishes were generously portioned and at least 9 out of 10 acrios the board.
Simple idea meals, made with incredible ingredients, cooked perfectly.
Steak and the steak pie were out of this world. All sundries were perfect and all food was piping hot.
Everyone is now super stuffed and enjoying imensce puds.
All 4 generations all giddy with satisfaction.
1-0 mother in law Thats the only thing i can pick negatively about the trip.
Cant wait til im going anywhere near bala, through bala, or within 30 mins any time away from the eagle inn bala.
Go enjoy
But make it your IDEA.

Read moreI know there have been a lot of changes recently regarding its sale to the community and then being leased. I checked the wonderful menu beforehand. We were there after scattering Mums ashes and were looking foreward to a lovely meal out of the cold and wet of the lake where Mum had been laid to rest. I phoned specifically to ask if food was being served and if we needed to book. Yes to the food and no need to book. We were told there was a restricted menu( wish they could have told us on the phone) Restricted was literally restricted to a couple of different burgers with fries! Small portions and we're not really burger people, but damned if we were going out in the weather to somewhere else, risking no tables available. The place was freezing. I could hardly hold my cutlery as my hands were so stiff. The staff who took my call while very sweet didn't give the information we needed, and the senior staff seemed rather defensive. I was trying to be encouraging regarding the future, as we live less than 3 miles from the eagles towards dolgellau. So all in all Im hoping for improvement, and a less defensive attitude. We want to do what we can to support our local. It has always served gorgeous food with friendly staff and a nice atmosphere where you don't need to keep your gloves on.£15 for a burger and small fries and slaw ,not too expensive, but could have got a maccy d's for less than half the price with a drink. do think things will improve given time. Staff need to listen, apologise and not be defensive!
All good wishes for the...
Read moreFirst time here, as we are on holiday, and from the moment we walked in, we were so welcomed in, we hadn't booked and just called in hoping to get a table, luckily we were able to, as there were 6 of us. It felt as though we were regulars here, not just visitors and that's what makes the difference, The food came very quickly and was fresh, hot, and presented well, so all positive really the only negative and it's only a little thing, and nothing they can do, was the flies, it was a hot evening and in the country side so I suppose you expect the odd one, other than was a really enjoyable meal, Parking was easy but if you have a big car or truck you might find it hard to get the their car park, so you might have to find a space on the street. If you're a disabled person then no issues here as there is a ramp to gain entry and plenty of room inside and out to be honest. It's also a pet-friendly place so you can bring that added family member if you need to. For kids, there is a kids' menu with a reasonable selection, but unsure if they have a play area. Now value, although I can not fault the food or service, the pricing for me was a bit steep, I had the smashed beef and bacon burger was fries, and homemade coleslaw, at £20 i thought that was a bit much. So to round it off, really enjoyed our visit , had a lovely meal, would I return of course as the service we received was...
