Where to start? I was long due a visit to this restaurant, heard so many good things throughout the years that I had to tried it, specially being a big fan of all kind of meats. I must say, coming in it does feel like you're getting into an American restaurant, the decorations, the music, the all vibe is very welcoming and pleasant. All staff was really kind, specially the waiter that looked after our table. Our table was ready with the menus which I found them quite charming, kinda looked like a newspaper but with, the menu. We ordered the platter which has a bit of everything, kids had a buguer and hotdog which were ok for a kids meal. The main character, full platter, I don't know if it was because I built to much expectations, but it did lacked a bit, portion wise was ok, but was expecting like an American sized platter if you know what I mean. The meats were good, but maybe because of the time I booked (2pm) and the meats, being smoked for so many hours, might have started to dry out a bit maybe...? Was expecting the meats to be juicy and tender like something I never tried before, however the food was a tad too dry. The whole experience was good, but lacked a bit mainly in the tenderness of the meats, and the quantity, still I recommend a visit, you might have better luck. I will visit again, different time thou, earlier definitely.

Really great restaurant, huge menu with loads of choice and most the time very friendly and attentive staff. We’ve been here twice in the last month and the food has always been fantastic. Would highly recommend the corn dogs or fried chicken to start and either a burger or 16hr slow cooked brisket for the main. The brisket is fantastic and definitely a unique dining experience to anywhere else. The brisket also comes with a bourbon style gravy and this stuff is awesome. Also, the onion rings are huge! Very tasty too so make sure these are chosen as a side, but might be ideal to share. Shout out to Luke P, a great waiter, very attentive and offered a very personable experience. He knew the menu inside out and took the time to offer recommendations and very good ones at that! However the most recent time we visited, the service was not the best, with people forgetting our orders, forgetting to bring drinks and only clearing away half of the plates at the end of the meal. There was a very large party nearby to us, so I guess this was the cause but it is a shame that our experience suffered as a result of a big group being in. Overall a great experience, I am sure we will be back, would love to try the breakfast menu as this also looked fantastic.

Went there yesterday (Friday) at 7:30 without booking but managed to get a place at bar for 2 people. Definitely need to prebook if you go. It was a good atmosphere but quite loud. I ordered the veggie burger but they brought out a burger which 100% was the wrong one and had beef. I have previously ordered this veggie burger and I know it does not come with 3 buns and I could taste the beef as soon as I took a bite. I got my friend to try it and she said it was beef too. Called staff over and explained it wasn’t the veggie burger and asked if there was a mistake. They ended up getting manager who said it was the right burger and it was infact veggie. My friend told them to try it themselves and she took the burger to the chefs to try and came back and said it was the veggie one but would make a new burger for us. This was absolutely a cover up to the fact they just gave me a meat burger when I’m vegetarian. I refused to eat anymore and asked for a new one. When the second one came through they set up the burger as the first but with the veggie patty (soy based - hence distinctive flavour). This patty was like the burger I had had prior and just confirmed that they gave me a beef one to begin with. They came back over to ask how it was and I said how it tasted nothing like the first and that I can tell this one is soy, I mentioned how I know what beef tastes like (I used to eat meet 2/3 years ago). They ended up taking this off the tab at the end but definitely with hesitation to do so. I’m really upset with this. I feel like I’ve been mistreated here as they gave me beef and then tried to make me out to be the wrong one and gaslight me into thinking it’s veggie. I eat soy based products regularly, I know what they taste like. I can tell if it’s meat or not. I’ve been here several times and never had an issue so why would I make one now over a simple burger. I did not like my treatment and think it’s disgusting that they would act this way over such an issue of their own mishap. You can see the difference in the burgers from the photos. The one with the macaroni and cheese is from this evening (it has multiple layers of cheese and 3 buns in total), the other only has the 2 buns and only 1 slice of cheese. They are different burgers. They gave me a beef one. On accident or not, they tried to make it out like I was wrong. I know what I’m eating, especially when I have had it multiple times before. If you are veggie, check the burger first just in case.

Starts fairly encouraging, good greeting complementary popcorn, yes popcorn, appetiser to sweeten your palette before all the salty sweetness of things to come. Then, our server approaches with such a sullen face, oh what joy he conveyed NOT(not all staff looked this happy!!). He took our order, the platter to share, and drinks. Good waiting time only 10 to 15 mins at quite a busy time of day. Now, this is quite a platter of meat after meat after meat after meat after sausage. Unfortunately, 1st failing point, the service plater and plates were bearly warm, not hot, so by the time you get to the bottom, it's all cold. 2nd failing of the dish, in a way, is all that meat and no real vegetables to go alongside it. Yes, you got fries and slaw, but no corn cob onion rings[had to order as side dish] or other veg? And the slaw was quite stingy, no a lot stingy. Don't misunderstand me. The menu didn't have any mention of vegetables, so it was as ordered. But until you start eating, you don't realise how much it needed that vegetable or vegetables. Especially when all that chard smokey meat (not sure if a couple of the dishes should have been burnt...chard) starts to go down. The chard meats were very tender and fell apart beautifully and tasted good without the outer blackness. Overall, not £60 of goodness. There was also a poor moment from the staff when I wanted to try the rootbeer float, sounded so nice rootbeer and custard cream float. Most decent restaurants or even pub food (as this is) places would admit before serving anything you ordered, you are not going to get what you ordered because they don't have it. No, they tried to palm me off with squirty cream float and just looked at me blank when I asked where the custard was. The manager did come and apologise and took the drink off the bill, but I wouldn't have expected less. (£90+ platter, 2 sides, 2 soft drinks, 0% pale ale, soda, shake & rootbeer removed) Finish on a good word.... hmmm MILKSHAKES. Yes, you need to try those MILKSHAKES.

As a south westerner I've been missing out on Hickory's and had never even heard of them until a friend suggested we go while I was up in Coventry for a work visit. We arrived and were greeted by a very friendly waiter, no tables were ready at our arrival time (we did not book in advance as it was a spur of the moment visit) so we were shown to the bar and ordered some drinks. After only about 10 minutes we were shown to our table and after being indecisive on the menu we decided to split a Smokehouse Platter between us. I expected it to be big based on the price but nothing could prepare me for the table sized Platter that would arrive at the table. Every single item was delicious, but I particularly loved the beans with pulled pork, the glazed chicken wings and the brisket which was so tender and full of flavor. The BBQ sauce and bourbon gravy were amazing and I regret not asking if I could take some of the latter with me as it was so good. After we had eaten our fill, our waiter provided two boxes for us to pack up the leftovers to take back with us. The overall bill was pricey but certainly well worth it. I will definitely be looking forward to going again next time I'm in the area.

Highly recommend the sharing platter. Was a huge amount of food could have easily fed 3-4 people. We went on a Wednesday night and it was packed. Make sure you book a table as we overheard them say it was a minimum 2 hour wait if you hadn't booked. The service was great despite it being busy had a bit of a wait for our drink, our starter actually came first but I think because so many people wanted to eat there they were happy to wait at the bar which obviously made them even busier. We mentioned it to our waitress and they were being poured as we spoke. Great choice in non alcoholic drinks which suited me as a designated driver. And a great choice in craft beer which suited my partner. Thought it was amazing that they boxes up the food that we couldn't finish. More places should do this would save on so much waste. We had it for dinner the following night. Looking forward to going back. Next time I'll have something smaller so I can tuck into a dessert. 🍿🍔🍗🍖🍦. Oh they also serve salted popcorn on arrival. Was very salty but I liked the idea.
