Dog friendly, but only in the bar area, which is often very busy, rather than the larger lounge where dogs aren't allowed. The dog friendly area has a tile floor so you might want to bring a cushion if your dog doesn't like that. There was a bowl for dog water outside, but was full of leaves, for some reason.
Pretty standard menu, decent but not exciting. Onion rings were cooked to oblivion, tooth-breakers unfortunately. The condiments are all in those tiny sachets where you need 5 to get enough to go with one chip.
Staff were nice and friendly. Absolutely no phone signal here and no WiFi, in case you were needing internet. There's a decent size car park around the back.
If you're planning to pay by card, at the time of writing this, the minimum payment is £10, so bring cash unless you're buying a few drinks,...

Always a good meal here, big portions for hearty appetites and greedy guts like me :-), My steak pie must have had a pound of steak in it. There is usually a nice selection of specials in addition to the main menu. My husband likes the beer here too. They serve (local brewery Church End one of his favourites) Fallen Angel and he says it's as good a pint as you would get if you visited the Church End brewery. Couldn't get a table in the lounge this time, so we sat in the bar and got chatting to the friendly locals. Cannot fault the staff here they are ALL so welcoming and hospitable, just like pubs used to be...

The excellent pub food was served by totally uninterested if not downright offhanded bar staff. For one of the two to have to check if my blind friend's guide dog was to be allowed in was a bit of a blow but the piece de resistance was stopping the same barman from pouring a double tomato juice into a pint beer glass and pointing him in the direction of something slightly more elegant. I suspect it may be some time...
