I have been coming to The Unicorn in Warwick for approx 3 months. I come on a Tuesday and the food/service I receive is amazing from the bar lady with the brown hair. Thursdays at The Unicorn, however; I walked in and could not get served by the barman, I waited patiently while he served three people infront of me, which I patiently stared at him and watched him do until another punter advised him I was waiting a while. There is no reason why I should be treated any differently from anybody else in this bar, other than my skin is Asian. This is called a micro aggression and it is a subtle form of racism. Following serving myself he did not say thank you for your order, he apologised to the punter at the bar for his wait while I was still using my bank card. Following this I’ve sat watching an Asian man with long hair, trying to get served at the bar 3 times, and in the end had to get his friend to order for him as he could not get served either. I’ve proceeded to watch this racist barman approach tables of white people and ask if they would like any toner drink and serve them wines, he has asked all tables other than mine. My food hasn’t arrived and I am leaving without saying anything because I don’t deserve to be treated this way. I spend 30 to 40 pounds here twice a week, I won’t be coming again! Regards Penny Lane

Have to say no different then any other new build pub on a new built estate. No offence but this place needs improvement.. service was good.. Chips were really nice but the batter on the fish wasn't the best. Wasn't crispy and quite flat. I was impressed with the bread for a good old chip butty. That's a first. And guys come on! clean the tables. Mine felt like a kid had been sitting at my table before me with a lolly pop. So at the moment I'm on my national best fish and chip award. And so far this place is bottom. But then again at only £16.10 with a pint as well . Sorry guys.

This is a great pub which, much like Ronseal, does what it says on the tin. The food is good, and you get what you pay for (it is good value). The drinks are competitively priced - real ale mondays but beers at £2.50 a pint, and a house wine is usually less than £15, which I would say is good. As someone who travels often, this pub makes you feel welcome, and has some lovely views, with a warm atmosphere and very friendly staff. I walked from the Hilton (which is dated & overpriced) and the 15min journey is very peaceful. Will definitely return - and I don't say that often!

We've been coming to the Unicorn since moving to the area back in 2015. Over the past nine or so years, there have been issues here and there, it's changed management a handful of times during this period. So why the 5 stars? Because no pub or restaurant can operate flawlessly 100% of the time, and the vast majority of visits have delivered to a high standard, especially with the current management in charge.

There's a respectable selection of drinks, you can tell the pipes are well maintained by their quality of draught beverages (unlike a couple of 'popular' drinking spots in Warwick town cough), the food tastes great and menu gives a decent range of options, for children and adults alike.

I've found the staff to be friendly, attentive and are willing to go out there way to help and even rectify any potential mistakes, which may happen time to time because they're human beings. You may also stumble upon a rare issue of miscommunication when trying to order at the bar, this can easily be resolved with use of patience and common decency. At times it can be difficult keeping track of who's next, as a former barman (not from here) I can attest to this, don't expect them to be mind-readers, make yourself known and they'll serve you the best they can, simple as that.

As for atmosphere, it's a nice quite location, a modicum yet sociable beer garden, one side does capture a lot of sunshine on the more pleasant days. It's always been a relaxed environment, kept clean and definitely serves the local community well.

There is a previous review on here that has alleged a form of discriminatory behavior, one reason I felt compelled to write this review. I appreciate they 'felt' this way, but following a much longer tenure as a consumer here, witnessing all walks of life enter the establishment including my own family, neighbours, friends and coworkers, I believe hand on heart the events were completely misinterpreted and twisted through a sense of self insecurity by the claimant.

I'll confess there has been a time or two the bar has overlooked me, it's happened in other pubs and restaurants, it's not a pleasant feeling. You know what I did? I didn't make such a strong presumption and stew in my own misery, I made myself apparent to the bar staff, and it was dealt with. Settled, done.

I also loved they reference another person similar to them were receiving the same treatment, the tale of two demographics playing out on the same evening, by the same staff. Sorry, that did not happen, you may think it adds a bit more oomph to your complaint, it doesn't. YOU had a bad experience, again that is appreciated, but don't throw the R word around, and make such an egregious and hideous allegation. I know people of the same ethnicity as you who have used and continue to use this pub since the estate was built, I find the stretch to racism both baseless and illogical. It's a decent pub, learn to speak up for yourself at the bar and let's not make racial mountains out of...

A brief overnight on the outskirts of Warwick was vastly improved by our evening meal at the Unicorn 🦄 a last minute Google search landed us booking online for a table and walking round to the door.

Staff were friendly and accommodating with our last minute booking, and showed a good knowledge about food allergens to accommodate my coeliac diet. Tables and general look of the place was clean and comfortable. Plenty of families in for the evening, including ourselves and the relaxed atmosphere made us feel comfortable with our own children in the pub. Plus there is a pool table and other fun things to keep the children from getting bored waiting for food or between courses.

We had our well-trained Cockapoo in with us under our table (the only dog we could see) but staff were friendly and approachable, they even have gravy bones behind the bar to make any well behaved pooch feel at home 👍🐕

The menu catered for everyone from pizzas, burgers and traditional classics with vegan and vegetarian options well catered for too. There were a few options unavailable due to delivery problems but staff were helpful I'm choosing alternatives from the menu. Portion sizes are good value for money and the food is tasty; the chips got a high praise from our plates! The kids menu showed little imagination but was good portion size (for our 8yo) and with dessert at £1.25 isn't going to break the bank to give them a wee treat afterwards! My vegan chilli was made gluten free with the absence of the advertised garlic bread and came to the table labeled, evidence of the staff understanding of allergens.

If you're in the area and looking for a good value for money, relaxed and friendly place for a meal then I'd definitely recommend...

Keypoints - Not much choice at all for vegetarians on reduced the menu

Drinkes rather expensive (probs to counter balance the "cheap" food)

Toilets well presented but rather slippery floors, not sure if was urine or a leaky drain

Staying over in Warwick for 1 night and needed somewhere to eat for 4 a 16 month old, this was the closest place to eat for our hotel location

Upon arrival seemed quite busy, but everyone was just sat near a window so it looks busy from the outside (Common trick I've found in most pubs)

We were sat... Near a window too funny enough, our table and seats were clean, but others around the area were all ripped up and needed some serious repair, with foam hanging out and showing

Food ordered Few starters - Not bad just generic frozen fried from the bag breaded mushrooms and onion rings

Fish and chips - Father in law said this was "alright", but was a fish cut in half and then given the tail end at that... (what?) never been somewhere where the fish is cut in half before... Chips... Generic frozen chips

Stacker burger Not bad if you like macaroni cheese, was quite a large amount of macaroni cheese on top which was good, the burger it self was quite herby and moist which was pretty good to be honest

10oz gammon Gammon was said to be slightly dry but egg had a runny yolk, with plenty of chips

Two of us had finnished before the others and a waiter came over to remove plates from our table while others were eating, sorry but that's a big no no and rather rude (DO NOT DO THIS)

Over all opinion... Not too bad if your just wanting somewhere for a quick bit to eat, but don't expect too much bang...
