We camped here over the recent bank holiday, reasonable pitch prices, friendly staff on arrival, we also booked up for a meal one evening at the pub
Initially really pleasant, lovely beer garden! Waited a while for table service, then went to order.. the starters we wanted were not available (this information should be given when seated in my opinion) so we asked for 2 minutes to rearrange what we were going to order
25 minutes later we sent our boy in to ask if we could have some service.. a lady came out to us and eventually took our order for the mains.
50 minutes after ordering our dinners came out, I have to say we were all very disappointed, the fillet steak was average and slightly overcooked, the sauce wasn't nice that went with it. The fish and chips were ok, nothing special. We had to ask for a steak knife, condiments, and find another member of staff to ask for a round of drinks..
Awful service, so we decided to skip dessert or any other drinks and head back to camp.. £100 worse off for 3 adult meals and 2 child meals, 2 gins and a few soft drinks
The camp site itself is pleasant, nice and quiet, the facilities are a bit pants.. 3 toilets in total and 1 had a 'not in use' sign after our first night, door handles kept getting stuck.. one of the showers is in a portable unit which I did use once, never again
The water pressure was appalling, whether you were washing up, cleaning your hands or in the shower it would constantly drop.. to almost nothing at one point
Overall ; a cheap, quiet site, with pretty poor facilities, the on site pub I think we were unlucky with our food and service, unsure if I...

We stayed here for a night while touring the south of England. The campsite is a basic field with two toilets and a shower (very clean & well stocked with soap and loo roll, but very basic and if it's raining, awkward to use the shower as it's a port-a-shower).
The staff (both daytime & evening) were extremely friendly, accommodating and well organised.
We shared a starter of "Beer battered chicken goujons". Clearly homemade and cooked to perfection.
We chose burgers for main courses, I had the "Camembull Burger" (my new favourite thing) & my partner had the "Yankeebull Burger".... Again cooked to perfection, bursting with flavour and succulent like you wouldn't believe!
After or meal we took our time with our drinks completely unrushed but checked in with to ensure we were ok, before we decided to peruse the dessert menu.
My partner had a "Champagne & Raspberry possett" and I had an enormous slice of "Coconut & Dark Chocolate cheesecake" ....... Both desserts were pure heaven and a perfect way to round off the meal.
*footnote: The only reason they lose a star for their site, is because if you look at my other reviews of campsites all from this trip, they have all been £20 per night and to a higher standard.
(I would still return, but would like to see a nicer shower and toilets,...
Read moreWe booked in to stay at the campsite and obviously ate at the pub twice. Nothing beats having a campsite attached to a pub! Firstly, the campsite is great. The owner purposefully only has a limited number of pitches available despite ample room for more. This allows everyone plenty of room and the ability to spread out and feel private. The bathroom / shower facilities aren’t luxurious (we are camping after all!) but are well maintained, clean and stocked with toilet paper. The campsite also allows fires with a number of fire pits provided. We ran into the owner one morning and when we confessed we forgot to bring coffee, he immediately offered to bring us some. What a legend! Would recommend and would stay here again
Now onto the food - we ordered a number of dishes including the fish and chips, pies, burgers, ham and eggs and sausages. We all thoroughly enjoyed our food with large portions and great flavours. The chunky, crisp chips in particular...
