The Heron — Restaurant in Wealden

Wow! Have found a new go-to place for Sunday lunch. The Heron in Westham High Street is under new management - we had the roast; choice of roast beef, pork or chicken - we had a mixture. Best pork crackling I've ever eaten, homemade large Yorkshire puds, good range of well cooked veggies with additional tasty cauliflower cheese. Very generous helpings of well cooked, tasty food with lashings of gravy. After a rest we had an apple and fruit crumble, this time with lashings of custard. Visited The Heron after a nice walk around Westam, in the mud 😂. Quick change of footware and into our pre reserved table. Had the Sunday Roast, lots of nice veg, lovely rosdt potatoes, tender meat and a nice Yorkshire pudding, with a side af lovely cheesy cauliflower cheese. Goos service and decent value for money, although soda and fresh lime, in my opinion, should be free, which they charge for unfortunately. Reluctantly giving this great venue a Google *5 review - only because we want to keep it our “local” secret 🤣 Such a welcoming and friendly proper pub with exceptional homemade food - our fur baby Ted was most impressed with his treats as well - and the service from Teresa and James was attentive and impeccable. We’ll be back for the live entertainment 8-piece band later this month. Thanks for a great impromptu Sunday lunch and the Stray Dogs....
