Ree-vol-ting! For Battered Cod read Cod in a Munitions-grade Casing. Greasy, thick, rock-hard, indigestible batter - and the second offering (after highlighting the disgraceful first offering) was little better, if at all. Whilst it may not have been, it resembled something that had been cooked previously, left for hours, and then reheated in the deep-fat fryer. Fish, when deep-fried in batter, should be presented in a light golden batter that is easily digestable. This was anything but. I get 10x better offerings (at half the price, too) from the mobile F&C van that has served our village every week, for years. The Chicken & Ham pie contained cubed chicken that not only looked (emphasis on the last word there) anaemic/processed, but was grossly undercooked - foul (if you'll pardon the pun). The pie crust was fairly good, but that's not the point. The broccoli that was served with the pie was so raw that I doubt it saw more than 10 seconds under the hot tap, at best. Why? The starter of Baked Camembert was fine (but what could go wrong with that?) and definitely a good choice. With the main courses being so unpalatable there was no desire to extend our stay to sample deserts, though what we saw looked nice. Ultimately, with 50% deducted from the bill (since donated to charity) for the two Mains, we left feeling very disappointed and wondering if perhaps more training/supervision in the kitchen might be required, as these were definitely the worst two meals we've been served at any pub in a considerable...

The Plough and Harrow is an absolutely lovely pub. We visited as a party of seven with three dogs and were seated at a table inside. Our drinks order was taken really quickly and when we had an issue with one of the drinks they immediately remedied it. We ordered four Franco chicken burgers, one fish and chips and two beef burgers. The food came really quickly and was absolutely delicious. The chicken burgers were a whole chicken breast that had been lightly battered, with a delicious homemade slaw and the chips were divine. The beef burger was similarly really nice and had loads of fresh salad in it. Just wished the chip portion was a bit bigger. When the child's beef burger came the kids meal had more chips than the adults meal did, as they put them in little metal pots for the adults meals. The inside of the pub is lovely it has loads of fairy lights and old fashioned swirly light bulbs. The staff members were really helpful. There were lots of menus around so we didn't have to share and the whole pub itself looked really clean. The toilets were also clean. That was a good range of seating inside as well as outside in the beer garden and further down past the car park there's also an additional garden with seating. The Plough and Harrow is obviously very popular as it was very busy and we went. I can see why, we had a lovely meal and we'll definitely...

Hit and miss. Had great food here, but yesterday was bad. We sat outside as it was a lovely day, and paid upfront as outside. My order was wrong, they offered to leave the fish pie, or wait for my correct order to be done. As my husbands was on the table, I didn't want to wait and eat on my own after him, or his get cold while waiting. The fish pie was poor, it was over run with cheese, was just about all I could taste, and very sloppy potato. I had to scrap off the cheese as so much of it, and fish out, the fish, from the sloppy potato.I know some people do like under cooked green beans, but they were pretty raw not for me, we both left most of them. All in all I left most of the meal and was hungry. Was offered another free drink for the mistake, but we didn't want another and my husband was driving. Nothing else was offered. There were no courtesy checks, and the staff disappeared altogether when we had done with our meal . We waited a while but no one came to clear plates or ask if we wanted desserts. Such a shame it was so bad, as have had good here. Has put us off going again as worried it won't...

Late lunch for three adults with a dog. Large car park and more parking out on the street. Outdoor seating area has trestle bench tables (in good condition) with sun umbrellas - where we sat, and adjacent seating area also had said tables and is roofed. No booking in advance, turn up and wait for someone to leave! Lots of hard-working and helpful staff running around. Oh, and gents toilet was modern, very clean and (unusually for a pub restaurant) non-aromatic! 3 x roast beef Sunday lunches, 2 G&T, 1 Moult cider and three pints of local ale Long Man Sleeping Giant (very nice) followed by cheese and crackers (excellent, apple slices, red and white grapes, crackers, chutney and three nice cheeses - enough in one portion for three people to share) was £76.50. Roast meals large and very nice, albeit beef was too chewy and lacked flavour and beef Sunday dinner was our reason for visiting... thus great overall but only four star rating (fix the beef!).
