Definitely worth a visit, In a nutshell , exactly what you’re looking for from a Pub.

Our experience is below

After making a reservation at the local Carvery for this Sunday, we decided to skip the bustling atmosphere for a quieter experience at a more local pub. At around 5:30 PM, we called a few nearby pubs looking for a table, and we were greeted by a bubbly guy on the phone who informed us that they serve food until 7 PM. Not knowing what to expect, we booked a table.

Upon our arrival, we were welcomed by friendly staff who were warm and full of personality. They showed us to our table, and we promptly placed our drinks order. Unfortunately, the drink I initially wanted was sold out, but I was offered a taster of the real ale they had available, which turned out to be fantastic with amazing flavor.

While we waiting for our order, I overheard the table next to us expressing dissatisfaction with their food, which made us a bit apprehensive about our own order. We had chosen two fish and chips and a pork belly roast, and I’m happy to report that our meals were outstanding.

The fish was perfectly cooked, and the chips were complemented by a homemade tartar sauce that was simply unreal.

The pork belly roast was exceptionally brilliant, and the gravy packed amazing flavors. My only criticism would be that the roast dinner could benefit from a premium vegetable option to elevate the meal—something like cauliflower cheese, and stuffing would really make it special. Perhaps they could either charge extra for such items or reduce the portion of the meat, as it was quite massive!

Overall, this pub is definitely worth a visit, and Id like extend my compliments to the chef. Also It was refreshing to see such happy staff working behind the bar after what seemed like a very busy...

We phoned here in hope that they had room to squeeze 4 of us in for Sunday lunch....and we were in luck. The staff were very welcoming and the service was fab even if it was a little slow. We had a bottle of prosecco and a beer, I'm not sure what the cost was as it was bought for us. We sat down, had a look at the menu and everything sounded delicious but we'd come specifically for a Sunday Roast so that's what we had. We'd seen some of the food coming out and the roasts looked massive so we skipped starters and went staight in for the main. 2 of us has the slow Roasted Belly Pork and the other 2 had the Roast Beef. When the food came out I think my mouth was actually watering. It looked and smelt amazing. The pictures don't really show it but the portion size was big. Everything was cooked perfectly. The staff really couldn't do enough for us and even sent someone off to the shops to get some apple sauce when they had run out. The food was delicious. The roasties could've done with a bit more crisping up but were still yummy. And the yorkies and crackling were amazing! So so nice. Would defo recommend. We didn't have room for a pudding but the menu looked good. The pub is quite big and was very clean. The toilets were nice too. The Roasts cost...

We came here for Mothers Day, we were seated quickly and greeted with a smile. Once seated there was a nice little touch of a free gift from the basket for each mum, it's little touches like this that some people forget, it doesn't cost much, but I guarantee left each mum feeling a little extra special, including myself šŸ‘ You always know on a very busy day like this that the staff are stretched, but they were happy to help and continually asked if everything was ok. The table we were seated on was extremely wobbily, and felt like we were eating at Sea and I thought our drinks and dinner were going to fly to the floor at any minute, we did ask for another table but there were none available. All in all, the food was lovely, the service was great, the place was clean and tidy and I would...

I’ve come to the red lion many times. The Camembert is standard, but by far one of the best roasts I’ve tried in Eastbourne out of many. Around Ā£16 which I find to now be on the lower side appallingly! They were great to accommodate to adding gravy and Yorkshire pudding to seasonal veg for me as a vegetarian! The staff are okay but could be better. We almost got turned down for sitting outside when there were only 3 parties there as we were a party of 2 but was quickly corrected. The atmosphere is that of a pub so take it as you will. We return often as the meat quality is good and in the weekdays they do good deals for cheap! All in all recommend for a nice pub lunch.

Booked to eat for 8. Were given a table for 6 in a back room with overturned tables and pool table. Whilst we waited patiently to get served hundreds of empty used gakaes arrived and dominated our view. We were finally moved to a suitable table but it was not laid up and our food started arriving. By the time we got cutlery my food was almost cold. Had almost finished my meagre portion by the time the last meals of our table arrived. Overall a very disappointing experience. One not repeated.
