Unexpected gem! We booked a table at this lovely country pub whilst staying nearby, and were greeted with a fantastic, quirky pub full of charm and alternative vibes. The staff were friendly, and aware of pandemic restrictions so we felt safe (e.g. Pulling mask back up before talking to customer if it had slipped down) I had the garlic prawns to start and ham hock main, prawns were amazing and fresh caught, they could have been a tad less cooked for my liking but seafood is always best to err on the side of done i suppose. The ham hock was glazed in honey mustard and was divine, fell off the bone and straight into my mouth! I had it with chips which were crisp and tasty, and a fresh salad. Others in my party had onion soup, more prawns and mussels to start, the mussels were spectacular and definitely nicked a few off my partners plate! I was too consumed with my ham hock to remember what the others had for mains but all of us left with happy full bellies. The portions were generous and the food was fresh, I only wish we'd stayed to see the live music (sounded great warming up) , sadly I was dragged off as others wanted to watch the football! Hope to...
Read moreI recently visited The Six Bells in Chiddingly and had a very pleasant experience. The pub has a good, welcoming atmosphere with traditional charm and rustic décor. It's known as a biker pub, covered in old signs from businesses and places of a bygone era, adding to its unique character.
The menu offers a nice selection of simple pub grub. My meal was tasty and satisfying, and the portions were generous. The staff were friendly and helpful, adding to the overall enjoyable visit. One thing to note is that the menu isn't perfectly clear about vegetarian options, so it's best to ask the staff for details.
It can get very busy, so it's definitely worth booking in advance. The Six Bells also has a lovely outdoor seating area, making it a great spot for a meal or drink in the sunshine. Overall, it's a good place to visit and enjoy a meal with...
Read moreEverything you would expect from a Sussex village pub. Good food, quaint interior, and friendly locals. Nice large beer garden.
Visited on Saturday lunch time. Called in the late morning to book a table. Was told, no need they won’t be busy. Plus they don’t take bookings. Got there to discover the place was packed, inside and out! (Maybe they should consider bookings for inside table, if that is an important for some customers). As it was the weather was nice, so sitting in the beer garden was nice.
The food was excellent. Tasty steak and kidney pie. Good seafood salad. Very reasonable prices.
Only marked down the service because the actual bar inside is small, and on a busy day it took a while to be served. But the service was friendly.
Will definitely be back. Maybe...
