We were with some friends from overseas and we needed to stop somewhere quickly and there were two pubs to chose from on the road . I was very pleased we chose this pub . We simply had a great well prepared meal . My son and his friend had a piping hot roast meal and they both said it was enjoyable . The adults food was excellent, the pies were amazing , all individually cooked , not Mass produced . Deserts were very high standard , the crumble being amazing . What a hidden gem , brilliant service . We eat out every week and holiday often in the uk and it’s wonderful to go somewhere which cares about its food , service and customers. I’ll be definitely visiting again from Mayfield, we simply need more places with traditional service and home cooking...
Read moreOh my goodness, what a super place to visit. A welcoming greeting as we walked through the door, attentive service and lovely food. We went back the next day (Monday lunch) and although food was not officially being served sandwiches were offered. Add to that that a personal touch, ladies monthly bits, were in a basket free of charge. I mentioned how kind this was to the landlord who said it was his wife's idea. And how some people had just stolen the lot. Shame on those persons who would ruin such a kind thoughtful gesture to those of us to get caught short. All in all a really lovely pub to visit. Read moreI don't get this place. The food is average and over priced. They pretend they have decent wine when in fact it's just overpriced and poor quality. The staff aren't that friendly either.
The thing is, people say "oohhh let's go to the White Hart, it's great" Then we go and noone enjoys it. This happens every time.
Far better off, eating before you come and then enjoying a few drinks in the pub up the road.
