The Northmore Arms, What good points can either Ruth or myself add to the 5 star reviews that have already been posted?...a great little country pub that asks only that you remember that it's a little country pub.Off the beaten track but a gem in the Dartmoor countryside and the only pub I could find on Google Maps on the Exeter side of the Dartmoor National Park that has Sea Bass on the menu.Great pub, great meal, great atmosphere and very welcoming. Will definitely return,if only for the Sea Bass.....although I too wonder about the Artillery Gun in the car park ; )

Lovely old pub with loads of character. We have been meaning to visit for years but it's always been shut. Not now, the new landlady Simone told us she is open all day. We stopped for food which was very reasonably priced. I had a pint of prawns which I haven't seen for years since I lived by the seaside. My husband had fish with hand cut chips. The food was great. The new owners are really friendly and welcoming and it's super dog friendly. Well worth a visit

Fantastic old original pubs like these are getting very hard to find. Go there if you like quirky, quant and queer places but don’t if you read the Daily Mail! We loved the whole shebang including the Land Lady and friend Alan who even acted as our private chauffeur to and from our campsite for a small fee. The food we had was huge and tasty pub grub and the ale and cider selection great. Great experience, thank you!

My wife and I popped in for a quick drink one evening and fell in love with the place. It is like stepping back in time by several decades. It is essentially one room with the entrance in the middle splitting it in two. One end has a small bar with a huge open fire on the opposite wall. This is not a pristine modern pub: the ceiling is still stained with nicotine but it is exactly how I like a pub to be but it may not be to everybody's taste. The landlady was very welcoming and chatty. There were two Dartmoor Ales casks on offer: IPA and Legend. Generally I like darker, stronger ales but Legend was a very good for the dtronger Jail Ale. There is also a Spanish lager, which my wife enjoyed, and a local cider on offer. Whereas we normally try a different pub each day we returned to the Northmore Arms the following evening and then the lunchtime after that when we had an excellent meal (pheasant and sausage casserole). We are not local to the areas but will make a point of diverting to this pub when we are in...

If you like stepping back in time this is the place. So many of these wonderful places are being demolished or turned into something to found in any city, town or main street in the world. We strive to find the real world somewhere on our planet. This is the real world. If you expect antiseptic wipes and gells, sky sports, eastenders etc forget it this place is not for you. Can I commend the owner of this fine establishment who,s goal is to keep it as unchanged as humanly possible. That applies to you as well the health and safety excecutive. I will be back, this time drinking as last night was on some silly diet because had decided either the scales were lying or I had got fat. Oh the scales wernt lying by the way. I beg you all dont spoil this place. See...

Beautiful pub in an amazing setting off the beaten track, lovely welcoming pub and patrons. Very generous tasting offers from a lovely landlord and a landlady ready to drop us back to our campsite if taxi didn't arrive!!. Lovely open fire and a rayburn range, the same as I have have at home, in the dinning area...we went for meal after reading the reviews, and my companions were delighted with theirs. I was disappointed with mine, a chicken and seafood paella, with no chicken? 4 king prawns made up the seafood? A side salad covered in balsamic vinegar in the bowl? No crusty bread for juices....however no juices! Lovely place, just don't...
