The New Inn epitomizes the quintessential Devon pub experience, offering the expected traditional charm enriched with a welcoming and homely atmosphere. The exterior is visually striking, boasting a thatched roof and a spacious beer garden, instantly creating a sense of comfort.
Ample parking, including additional spaces across the road, enhances convenience, while the large beer garden provides ample room to bask in the occasional appearance of sunlight. Inside, a delightful log fire, low ceilings adorned with beautiful wooden beams, and locally-produced artwork contribute to a cozy and homely ambiance.
For chilly nights, the thoughtful provision of blankets adds a nice touch to the outdoor experience. The attentive and welcoming staff, along with friendly landlords, ensure a comfortable visit. The food, swiftly delivered and artistically presented, features a diverse menu with excellent vegetarian choices and classic pub fare. The vegetarian curry, a favorite for my daughter, remains a consistent delight, while the ever-changing fish option consistently impresses.
The pub's frequent themed nights, like the upcoming murder mystery evenings in the new year, add an exciting element to the overall experience. In essence, The New Inn strikes a perfect balance, offering the warmth of traditional Devon coupled with a compelling and varied menu, ensuring each visit leaves you content...
Read moreWent for partners birthday meal having had an amazing meal there a few months ago.
Unfortunately this time we were both disappointed with our main courses, steak not cooked right, unpleasant sauce and tasteless vegan dish, and after nobody coming to check back on our meal for a long time I went to the bar to advise of our issues feeling frustrated as it is not the cheapest place!
Frustration was immediately eased as a gentleman that I assume is the owner and chef promptly came to our table, apologised and quite honestly advised us of some issues that had contributed to the problems on their end. He cleared our bill, got us some more drinks and gave us a voucher to come and enjoy another meal in the future. He was pleasant l, not offended by our issues and nice to talk with.
No business can be perfect 100% of the time but every business could learn from this place how to resolve a complaint in such an efficient and professional manner that the customer still feels fully satisfied with there experience there.
We're looking forward to going...

My daughters burger was a kids burger, £8, no sauce, no salad, just bap and burger, which again lead to a dry burger.
I will add that the chips and garlic bread with cheese were lovely.
For me, if a posh pub cannot put out tasty burgers, I'm guessing the kitchens got problems.
Don't get me wrong the food was all eaten, but at the prices the New Inn is charging, I'd expect 'edible' not to be the overall impression left.
Desserts were nice, but again overpriced.
The staff were/are friendly, so no issues with the service, but we are...
