Me and my family used to come to the warren inn for years. We’d have a week holiday in August every year and made it a big thing to make sure we’d go there for a Pub grub at least twice within that week. It is your typical pub grub and always enjoyed by us all. Being kids at the time we always sat in the side too (family room) which was never a problem as it was your own little “private area” anyway. We hadnt been the last few years but managed to book a family holiday last year for the first time in a long while. My partner and me had a one year old at the time. I find the reviews really odd where people have only given the pub a one or two star Cos if being made to sit in the family room!?! If you have young kids, then why would it be “normal” to sit by the bar. There is a family room for a reason, never had a problem with this. Like I said before, it kind of acts as your own little private area, unless other families have come for dinner too. But of an evening can be usually quiet that you do get the room to yourself and it’s nice. We are off to devon again in a couple weeks and we are really hoping, despite the Covid situation, that we can still grab a meal.... or two 😊 5 stars is much deserved... the owner and other staff has always...

Often stop here on our journey from Somerset to Cornwall at least 5 times a year as the location is amazing and the pub has loads of history and love to get a coffee and sit either inside by the fire or take in the views outside.

Today was the first time we decided to eat here and we were slightly disappointed with the food. Bar service was excellent having to deal with a busy bar… lovely friendly atmosphere… Sat by the fire and locals chatted with us which was lovely.

Then the food arrived… Scampi and chips… The chips were not good quality, they were like microwaved chips or cardboard! Scampi was really hard on the outside and dry on the inside probably from the same supplier as the chips.

One of todays specials - Cottage Pie with Veg… Sad to say the vegetables were inedible… Tasteless and overcooked. Cottage pie lacked something… I think it was taste!

Such a shame for such a wonderful pub in the location it is. We will stop off here again but maybe just stick with our coffee. Still can’t fault the Warren on it’s location and staff, but they need to up the food quality – still love...

What a lovely location. This pub has it all. You can park alongside the road, either left or right. Some tables outside viewing the views of Dartmoor. I would suggest to bring a jumper. The high altitude means cold winds, even if a summer day. The pub seems family run. We've been here many times, meeting friends, sitting by the fireplace. The food is well priced. The highlight is the rabbit pie. Difficult to find this dish nowadays. But mainly other dishes that changed from the lunch menu to dinner menu. Today i had my favourite, chicken curry with poppadoms. Home cooked. Also a vegetarian dish, steak & ale pie and the salmon dish. Basically we had a lovely time, with drinks. Local ciders. Frshly cooked chunk chips. Mind you we tree with to have a Dartmoor walk before dinner. The round walk tour is 6 miles long. Leave to the professionals. We came back to the drinks outside looking to beautiful views. Cold thou. Dropped in for a drink whilst driving across Dartmoor. It's in a very isolated situation but with glorious views across open moorland. There is outside seating but we chose to sit inside. A nice pint of Otter ale. The famous fire was a welcome sight.

Family visit to the Warren House Inn on a summer Friday. Greeted by friendly and accommodating staff. Seated with spacious table and chairs. Good choice of beers, ales and ciders. The real treat was the copious menu if freshly prepared food. I chose the rabbit pie as it is not a commonly seen dish, and it was superb. One guest had scampy and chips and tucked into a very generous portion, so much so that a doggy bag was requested and smilingly provided. My other guest is vegan and was truly astounded by the wide choice available. Again, excellent report on quantity and quality. I did also notice there was an extensive range of gluten free choices. All in all a very welcome break. We eventually had to leave and return on the beautiful moor road, so scenic and full of horse and sheep. Drive carefully to this highly recommended Inn.
