Well, they told me that the A Team were working the lunch shift at the local Miller and Carter Steakhouse today. So I popped in to see what the fuss was all about, and promptly got spoilt rotten by a very well mannered young fella named Tom, (who looked a little bit like Don Johnson from Miami Vice) in a very classy silver grey suit. He introduced me to a tall, dark Latvian chap named Karlos (and I immediately remembered why all the girls go giggly and tongue tied at the mere mention of his name 🤦‍♂️). But what a gentleman he turned out to be. He had a word with a delightful young lady named Faye, the third member of the weekend A Team, and between them they fixed me up with a stunning Crispy Fried Squid, with oak-smoked garlic & lemon aioli dip, which really hit the mark. So, I was on fire now, and Chef Lucas didn't disappoint me with his signature 50 Day Aged Black Angus Rump Steak, served with a cute little onion loaf, balsamic-glazed tomato, and some delicious seasoned fries. Must be 'spoil the customer day' at the Aughton Branch today, and I felt proper duly spoilt. Lovely feel about the Aughton Branch, big enough to find some privacy but intimate enough to be only a nod and a wink from your hostess. Great atmosphere. And only a mile from where I live. Might make 'spoil the customer Saturday' a regular event from now on. Thank you to the A Team. God bless 'em. FIVE STAR PLUS ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐+

Original review from 2 years ago was 5 stars. Unfortunately the last 2 times we have been the food has gone downhill. 2 weeks ago me and Mrs went to aughton steaks were meant to be medium/well both had blood on the plates and red right through. Last night we told the server about last time so could you please make sure the steaks are at least medium. Again the Mrs had blood on her plate and her steak was red right through. My steak was probably the worst steak I've ever had a third of the steak was gristle that the steak knife couldn't cut through and the steak was red/purple. Paying over a hundred pounds for a meal for two would expect better. This used to be our go to place but will not be coming back anytime soon. So a monthly meal out will have to be elsewhere.

Been a while that I haven’t been to such a gorgeous steakhouse. We started with a wine each and boy it was good. As for the steak 🥩 you chose a dish and then a sauce and a sauce for the salad, and finally a side for your steak. The steak was cooked to perfection and served on a hot plate which I loved. As garnish there was this deep fried mixture of onion and potato which went extremely well with the steak. As desert I had Crème brûlée which again was great! There wasn’t anything in this restaurant which wasn’t top notch! The vibe was great, the staff could have been nicer a bit. All in all a bit on the pricey side but the quality is top notch so I will definitely try this place again.

Restaurant visit only so can not comment for the accomodation. First time visiting the restaurant but was pleasantly greeted on arrival by both the quaint and warming premises and the friendly front of house. We we ere served for the evening by Caitlin who initially came across as very welcoming and friendly and throughout the service provided attentive professional service. She was happy to build rapport and provide personal opinion to the menu whilst also showing genuine interest of guests on discussions. My wife and I shared the sourdough while you wait and the belly pork and burrata starters. The sourdough was lovely and chewy, the belly pork was perfectly crispy, and the burrata was fresh and light in flavour. For our main course, I enjoyed the 16oz ribeye cooked medium (as recommended) with the sides of sauteed greens with carrots. The ribeye, whilst both their most premium ribeye option, was one of the best steaks I have eaten. Whilst the veg was fresh, it possibly could have been slightly elevated to make it stand out a little more. The meat was wonderfully marbles with the signature gelatinous flavour pockets of a ribeye and whilst the size of the steak more than satisfied my hunger, left me craving more of it's flavour. My wife chose the Butternut squash, kale and pumpkin seeds tart which came with a side of new potatoes. Though I only tried a bite, the tart was wonderfully balanced, covering sweet and savoury notes and her plate was left clean. We each finished with a coffee and mini dessert, me choosing the brownie with a espresso and my with the white chocolate crème brulé with a latte. Both deserts were truly morish, though for a "mini dessert" were both a satisfying portion. The coffee was a tasty, non bitter roast that rounded off the evening. Our bill ended at a very reasonable £125 (rounded) and we will certainly be dining here again in the future.

Many thanks to both the kitchen and service staff for a...

From the outset, even before we arrived Louisa was the start of the show. She did her best to try to arrange an earlier check-in. Sadly this transpired not to be possible due to previous occupants having reserved a late check-out. But Louisa did try for us, and that's worth it's weight in gold. She also recognised me as we arrived for breakfast and check-out. Super friendly and attentive. A real asset to the business and should be rewarded by M&C for her amazing attitude and customer service.

The premises is located just off a very busy, main-artery A-road. That said, the traffic noise was well hidden and not disruptive. On to the accommodation. Check-in was straighforward, with the manager explaining that we couldn't check-in early for the reason already given. Fair enough. There weren't any guarantees - it was just a request from me (well - my wife!). But we were given the room key and instructions on the electronic key fob entry system for gaining access 'after hours'. This entrance was located at the top of the metal fire-escape and lit adequately by an external light.

The room itself was clean - both in the main area and the bathroom. However - it was a little on the 'cosy' side in terms of moving around. Also, it is now summer and a warm day. The lack of air conditioning these days is a big negative for me. It got excessively hot in the room for us overnight. Not good.

Our breakfasts were very nice on the whole. I had the full breakfast. However, the sauasages were of extremely low quality. Very mushy and tasteless - probably frozen. Also - we were told that no HP or brown sauce was available. An absolute travesty for a British fry-up!

M&C should up their game. If it wasn't for Louisa, the score would have been...

"My wife and I had dinner at Miller & Carter in Aughton on Sunday, February 11th. We were thoroughly impressed by the entire experience, from the knowledgeable staff to the delicious food."

"We started with the shared main course The Butchers Block which was cooked to a perfect medium and melted in our mouths It consisted of Black Angus Steak, which was Ribeye 10oz ,Rump 7oz and two cuts of fillet 5oz served with beef brisket bone marrow and an excellent selection of different side dishes ,all washed down with a delightful bottle of red wine.

The service was outstanding, thanks in large part to our waitress, Lucy. She was attentive, friendly, and incredibly helpful in suggesting dishes based on our preferences. When I had a minor choking incident, Lucy acted quickly and calmly, bringing me a glass of water and ensuring I was okay. It's these small touches that truly elevate a dining experience."

"The restaurant itself was warm and inviting, with a cozy atmosphere that was perfect for a romantic evening. The lighting was soft, and the background music was subtle, creating a relaxed and enjoyable environment."

"Overall, our experience at Miller & Carter in Aughton was exceptional. The food was cooked to perfection, the service was outstanding, and the atmosphere was inviting. We would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a delicious and memorable dining experience. A special thanks again to Lucy for her exceptional service!"

Warmest Regards Neil...
