This was the first time we ate at the Black Bull @ Welton and it most certainly will NOT be the last! We had Sunday roast...we both had the lamb...OMG it was absolutely beautifully cooked. It was served pink(just how it should be!) but instead of thin slices (like most places serve)they were more than 1/2" thick. The meat was superb...flavoursome and very tender. It was served with a fab yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes (crunchy on the outside but fluffy on the inside, scrummy), mashed potato and a generous portion of mixed fresh vegetables. Also provided was a jug of minted gravy (there was already gravy on the dinner). I'm being deadly serious when I say it the THE best roast dinner I've had in a long time, compliments to the chef.🥰👏👏 My husband saw there was sticky toffee pudding and couldn't resist it ..again, hats off to the chef! My husband said it was one of the best he's had. I'd also like to say how friendly the staff are. We were mainly served by Freya, she was friendly and helpful, as were all of the staff. They are fabulous ambassadors for the Black Bull. We thoroughly recommend this lovely pub for the fab food and friendly staff. We look forward to returning to try the rest...
Read moreMy family group of 5 had a meal on Saturday at the Black Bull Welton. We don't go very regularly but overall in the past the food has been hot and of a good standard. However recently and on Saturday evening the food was not so good. The carbonara was not as expected with big chunks of bacon and not parma ham. The dish was also very oily. The spinach & ricotta toetellini had small portions and was also almost cold. The fish and chips were fine but they did not have hand cut chips even though we had booked for 5:45pm. Others were also complaining about the food. We were all very disappointed. The Bull is the only place to eat in the village. I want to support local businesses. I sincerely hope the owner and manager takes note and ensures there is an improvement in the quality of the food. It will be a while before we...
Read moreA lovely village pub, well presented with a welcoming atmosphere and staff who seem to enjoy their jobs.
The food is nice, the drinks are nicer (can't beat Coca Cola) and the prices are quite comparable for the service and quality received.
There was some confusion about baby- changing facilities, however I have spoken with the manager (a very compassionate and understanding person) who explained that they have a procedure to check the women's toilet and allow fathers in, under supervision, to access the table- I consider this to be very reasonable compromise on limited space.
Return Visit The beer garden is dog-friendly so I spent a few hours enjoying the evening with family and friends, the staff continued their...
