On arrival looking forward to seeing the refurbishment and impressed. Was shown to our table near the corridor between bar and restaurant. It was cold and there was a draft blowing down the corridor and my husband gave me his shirt and the waiter saw this and said he would sort out the problem. He didn't. I moved to another table and was promptly told that I couldn't do this as they were fully booked to which I responded that I wasn't going to sit back there. They let us stay. The food order for starters was quick but it was white bait and a measly amount on a bed of salad leaves with no dressing. Asked for dressing. Then the fish and chips took ages to come. I was disappointed with the way we were told off for moving table as we had reservations. The owner/manager would do well to respond to all compliments and complaints on TripAdvisor and review sites. There are a number of compliments which he could say thank you to and complaints which he could make suggestions for future. The whitebait was of meagre proportions. He has to pay for that refurbishment. Wouldn't go back which is a shame as good pubs round here are few and...
Read moreWe visited the Cross Keys yesterday on recommendation having recently moved to the area, and I have to say I am so glad we did. The staff are friendly, welcoming and attentive. The view is stunning and I loved the decor inside. But the food, oh my goodness it was amazing. I have visited many of the usual chain restaurants in and around the West Midlands and they could learn a thing or too about how to cook food from this quaint little pub in the middle of the countryside. You can tell that quality produce is used and everything is home made, and it was exceptionally well presented on the plate, a feast for the eyes as well as the taste buds.
Our party of 5 all had different meals and not one of us had a bad thing to say, we all thoroughly enjoyed our meal. This is fine dining at its best at very reasonable prices. I will happily recommend the cross keys to everyone, and we will definitely be coming back. Thank you to all we had a wonderful meal and I cannot wait to sample more items from the menu.

Read moreWe went for lunch. Really nice greeting from the Team. The attention to detail and ambiance makes it very welcoming. Lovely dinning area with tip top view. You can see Lincoln Cathedral on the horizon. The menu is varied and has something for all tastes. The Whitebait was probably the best presented and tasty I have ever eaten. We also had Lobster and Mac which was equally as tasty. The main meal where equally as delightful. All the Team knew exactly how the food had been prepared and what dressings the Chef put on them. Clearly they had been well briefed by a very competent Chef who produces superb food. Well done Chef. The Cross Keys is a hidden gem and we booked for another lunch on the day.
The Cross Keys Team make it well...
