The Inn on the Green once known as the Generous Briton has been an Ale House for over 200 years. The main structure was built of Lime Stone Rubble & Pantile Roof approx 1780 â 1800âs . Inside set in the brick bar there is a Headstone with the initials âR.Bâ dating back 1820.
Now if youâre looking for a hidden gem this is the one for you. Here at The Inn on the Green in Ingham you have such a beautiful warm welcoming from the staff as you enter.
Youâve got elegant lighting (fairy lights) above you on old ladders that are suspended from the ceiling as well as all round the pub.
There are beautiful wooden beams throughout the pub with its stunning features hung up on walls or placed on window cills.
All the staff members in the pub are very friendly, professional and welcoming.
Now the food. Omg the food. Absolutely Devine. The Chef needs a Michelin star â no joke. Itâs too notch grub.
I had the classic cheese burger with fries and homemade slaw. Now I know what youâre thinking itâs just a cheese burger but donât knock it till you have tried it. It is out of this world.
My partner had the pan fried hake, broad bean, English asparagus Risotto, the presentation, the texture, the smells. Omg it looked and tasted fantastic.
Ten out of ten for me. I canât wait to come back and try more on the menu. Absolutely amazing.
Thank you for having us at such...
Read moreLike most hardworking Gastro pubs, The Inn on the Green has been supplying takeaway food during the various covid lockdown stages. They've always been known locally for having good quality, freshly prepared food - definitely a big step up from even the better pub chains.
A friend recommended trying the Sunday Diner Roast for 4 which they cook for collection. Sounded too good to be true...... So I tried it today....
A really top quality, restaurant standard beef joint that would feed 4 hungry people and leave lots for sandwiches. 4 generous portions of perfectly cooked veg. Enough rosemary roast potatoes to feed 8. Yorkshire puddings that are of a size and mass that you just couldn't cook at home. They really are huge and delicious!
Accompanied by a good amount of real gravy :)
Added to that you get four puddings with either custard or homemade Ice cream. Trust me, after their roast dinner, eating the pudding is something to be contemplated for much later in the day.
Remembering that this is a quality Gastro pub, with nothing cooked from frozen (they even grow some of their own ingredients), the whole roast dinner FOR FOUR costs..... ÂŁ40.
It was rightly highly recommended to me, and I highly recommend it to you, it was tasty and more than plenty....
Read moreBooked this for my daughters 18th birthday meal with family from Wiltshire. Asked on booking if they allowed dogs & then actually on the day rang to double check time of booking & again ask if dogs were allowed. Basically turned away on arrival as we had the dog with us as we had been set a table in the restaurant where dogs werenât allowed (which was 1 step up from the bar area & was open)! Asked if we could sit anywhere else & were told there were no tables other than 2 high ones where we couldnât all sit together. There was no attempt to help or even to try to accommodate us in any way! Wouldnât go ever again. Fortunately the Dambusters Inn about 3 miles away in Scampton were incredibly friendly, welcoming & accommodating (to the dog as well as us!) & the food...
