This was a great find chosen at random for a Saturday lunch. The hotel has adequate courtyard parking and a cosy restaurant and bar area with a mix of tables and chairs plus some sofas and appeared popular with locals who came and went for a drink or two from the bar adjacent to the restaurant. The menu changes monthly with dishes chosen to use as much local seasonal produce as possible. Two of us ordered the Cornish rock oysters appetiser which were served on ice with Angostura bitters available on the side and the soft shell crab starter (the server offered to bring both together) which was nicely served with garnishes and the seared tuna steak main which was perfectly cooked to order. Other orders included sweet potato hummus, gnocchi mains (see photo) and an excellent and very comprehensive Ploughman’s (photo). Desserts included a delicious jellied pear (cinnamon jelly), ice cream and a choice of cheeses including an excellent British blue. If you like real ale, try a glass of Hooky from nearby Hook Norton brewery and there is a wide choice of spirits, cocktails and a selection of wines with some offered by the glass. Service was excellent from immediate greeting on arrival and well paced arrivals of each course - we never waited long for plates to be cleared and the next course to arrive. We’ll be back.

The Kingham Plough gastropub is an absolute gem in the Cotswolds! From the moment I walked in, I knew my partner and I were in for a treat. The ambience is warm and inviting, with a cozy fireplace and rustic decor. But the real star of the show is the food. The rib-eye steaks were cooked to perfection - tender, juicy, and full of flavour. And the chips? Oh my goodness, they were the best chips I've ever eaten! Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, they were the perfect accompaniment to the steak. I also have to give a shoutout to the service - the staff were friendly, attentive, and really went above and beyond to make sure we had a great experience. Overall, I cannot recommend The Kingham Plough gastropub enough. It's the perfect spot for a special occasion, date night, or just a delicious meal with friends. I can't wait to go back!

Hello, fellows. We had a lunch at the pub on Sunday. It was a large group of us, we didn't book a table but we were kindly offered a table outside. The service was really good as expected. It took a while to get the mains to all of us, but it was understandable because the pub was crowded and kitchen was busy. However, the drinks were served promptly. The only issue we had was the mains were not on par with the money we paid. I have sometimes in a canteen in office the pork that is a bit chewy or a chicken that is a bit dry, but I pay less than five pounds for that, so it is not a big problem. But I would hope to have something more enjoyable when I pay twenty. The starters were good and everyone really liked the desserts. Overall, we had a great time, but be prepared to wait for your food during the busy time. Best regards, Rustam.

My partner and I recently stayed at The Kingham Plough for two nights, but unfortunately, were very disappointed with the experience and will definitely not be returning.

The positives first. All staff, friendly, welcoming and helpful. We had breakfast and and evening meal which were good.

Now we come to the accommodation which was a disgrace and the worst we have ever stayed in! We were taken to our room via a staircase which was shabby to say the least. The room was even worse. Firstly, the room bore no resemblance to the photos. The headboard was heavily stained, dirty pillows and pillow protectors, again heavily stained . Scruffy paintwork. Strange bathroom arrangement, where the bath, toilet and sink were in different areas of the accommodation. The Guest Information Folder was covered in grease marks.

I spoke to the manager, who accepted that the room was not up to standard and offered a night's accommodation with a complimentary bottle of wine. He also said that the room was due for refurbishment, which contradicts what is stated on the website, the pub is " beautifully refurbishment throughout " This pub is NOT "beautifully refurbished throughout "

I have also written to the owners of The Kingham Plough, Matt and Katie Beamish, who have also accepted that room was not up to standard, and based on my favourable comments on the staff and food, hope we would return to either of their 3 pubs in the future, (at our own expense). No chance! The owners state that they have 20 years experience in hospitality. So how can they allow guests to stay in a room and pay money (£175.00) for accommodation in such an appalling state? I did send a further email requesting a refund on our second night's stay, but to this I haven't received even the courtesy of a response. This tells me everything about attitude to...

Sadly, for the first time in a number of years, my visit for late lunch today was most disappointing. For a venue that is normally excellent in every way, today, it was a very different experience. The usual welcome from front of house was excellent. Sadly, then both service and food quality went down hill rapidly. The restaurant was not busy. However, after I had ordered food, no one came to check if food and service was ok. My starter of sweetcorn, had to be sent back as it was cold. Even the butter on it had refused to melt. I sought out a member of staff to ask for it to be replaced. It came back, barely warm but clearly reheated, as the first cob, which I had bitten into, was returned to me. Most disappointing. Then the main course of cod was again, lukewarm. The fish was excellent but the accompanying vegetables and butter beans were cold and the beans dry. I had ordered a side of broccoli and fine beans but refused to pay for them, (I hadn’t eaten them,) as again, they were not even warm. I suspect that it wasn’t an issue with the chef but that food was left fat too long in between completion and collection. Although I complained, I was charged the full £26 for the main course, which was highly expensive for a small piece of albeit a well cooked piece of cod, with cold, poorly presented vegetable accompaniments. Although I had asked for the bill, after 15 minutes, when it wasn’t presented, I went to the bar to pay, as it appeared that I had been forgotten…… I ate this dish at the Plough three weeks ago and it was superb. Sadly, not today and at £26 for small but well cooked piece of cod, it was...

My friend and I stayed here one night on our way up north from Dorset.|The village is so pretty but the main road is pretty busy, which surprised us.|There was initially a wow factor moment with our room. There were luxurious products in the bathroom which you could purchase if you wished. There were bathrobes available and fresh milk was delivered to your door in the morning.|However at £195 a night things were not perfect. We had a cracked sink, the H and C were missing off the taps, the toilet flushed badly and dripped all night and there were only two hangers, which would not have been good if we stayed more than one night.|The lady who was front of house on the Saturday evening was very efficient and friendly.|Breakfast the next day was a bit disorganised, whether it was because guests had chosen to sit outside I'm not sure. There was no decaf tea available and the menu was a bit confusing. Normally toast and jam comes as standard but here it had to be ordered as a separate item. I had Eggs Benedict and was basically told I did not get toast and jam with my selection of breakfast. My friend ordered brown toast and jam with her cooked breakfast and got partly toasted white bread but no jam. There was no choice of cereals or fresh fruit.|This is the most we have paid for a B&B and although it was very nice there are several minor issues that need to be addressed which slightly...
