I have just returned from a two night stay here. Pitch size is fantastic. My tent is 22ft long and 7.6ft wide and I still had room to put up wind breakers and sit outside.
For me and my group we were not at all happy with the toilets being so tiny weeny you cold barley move to wipe your bum. The cubicles are that small your literally have about 2 inches from your knees to the door and I am 5ft 2. And on a hot day with the door closed it was not good. They were only cleaned once a day. That many bums on seats needs more cleaning. Same with the showers very small and only 1 hook for towels and clothes. Also no hot water wash up area and only 1 wash up sink. This bothered us as the site was very busy therefore we felt they should have been cleaned more often.
Friday night was reasonably quiet, apart from a few people returning late from the pub that had clearly had a good time đ
Saturday was much busier and very noisy. Lots of kids and people having fun. There was a very loud party, which for us wasnât a problem, but if I had been travelling with kids this would not have been ideal. We were once again woken at 5.15 am by people still enjoying a few drinks đ
I donât know if this was a one off or if itâs that noisy every Saturday.
If you are looking for a very quiet site this is not the one for you.( like is said I donât know if itâs that noisy every weekend.) However if you like a lively atmosphere then I would say go for it. Also I felt it was quiet expensive as there wasnât an...
Read moreMe and my partner decided to finally try out the food at The swan in radcot yesterday after driving past it numerous times. It's safe to say we were so disappointed! When we were ordering our drinks, there were plenty of staff behind the bar but it was very clear from the get go that they didn't have a clue what was going on. They were being asked questions about the food on their menu and they had to keep running back and forth to the chef as they were clueless, they were arguing with one another and it was a very unprofessional atmosphere. We both decided that we wanted chicken Caesar salad, we asked if it was just chicken as sometimes pubs/restaurants like to add fish too. After the barman had asked the chef about this, we were told they'd only be chicken on our salads. Once we'd waited for what felt like forever our salads were brought to us with fish on too which the waiter said 'I know you asked for it without fish but do you mind? The chef will go mad'. Of course we minded otherwise we wouldn't have asked so he took the salads away, removed the fish and brought them straight back out. The whole salad still tasted of fish and what was worse was that one of the salads had a hair in it, not a delicacy we were expecting! We then sat there listening to the live band for around 2 hours, in this time our plates were not collected so we could not speak to the staff about how disappointed we were. We will not...
Read moreI first wrote this review a couple of years ago having visited in the summer and liked it. Having revisited it today after lockdown I feel that they really need to try harder.
We had a burger, pulled pork roll and a kids meal from the BBQ menu. ÂŁ38 without drinks. They're not participating in Eat out to help out.
The pub itself was shut at lunchtime and all service was in the garden. The laminated one page BBQ menu is stapled to the picnic table and you order at the shack outside. There's a limited choice of burgers, hot dogs and salad all served with chips on cheap polystyrene plates and containers with wooden cutlery. The food was overpriced for the quality. Very disappointing.
Drinks are served at the garden bar into cheap plastic disposable cups. The garden needed some TLC with large quantities of wasps not great for what should have been a relaxing lunch. I really had to edit my existing review. It's a beautiful setting but I really suggest you don't go until The Swan up their game. Leaves you feeling like you've just had a burger and a beer at the fair. Sorry...
This was my previous 4* review from 2 years ago. Lovely setting in a very traditional British pub beside the river Thames. Lovely pub garden. We just had a couple of filled sandwiches for lunch, served quickly, good portion sizes. Would...
