Terrible.suppposed be dog friendly but despite noone else being in the dining room we were asked to sit in the tiny poky front bar as we had a dog with us. Ordered drinks and clearly the lady didn't know what a cappachino was...as it was definitely not what we received....That wasn't drunk and we decided to leave rather than order food.Last time we were here we were able to eat( with our dog) in the dining room!!
The point made by the owner is invalid. We have been in the dining room previously not just once but on several times previously " with the dog" The cappachino was not a cappachino hence why it was left, not for any petty grudge!! Why advertise as a restaurant when you are not? A friendly table!!! It was the only one available out of 3 in a tiny area which wouldn't qualify as a cupboard never mind a " public bar" Not only do you have ears closed to customer complaints but also must have some impaired vision as my name is actually Mark!! Ps the point about hygiene is totally invalid as other " dog friendly" establishments - pubs , restaurants etc allow dogs actually into the public dining areas.... Far from being dog friendly you are actually anti dog as you appear to be biased against them ... Shunting both them and their owners to an excluded area ... Not inclusive at all... Perhaps the staff member should also receive some training on how to actually operate the coffee machine - here's a clue the " cappachino" button is the one to press when a "cappachino" is actually ordered!!!
Not worth even half a star... No redeeming qualities at all ... To be avoided!! I only gave 1 because I was unable to post this honest...
Read moreWe were deeply disappointed by our experience at Crooke Hall Inn during the Beer & Boat Festival 2025. As local residents, my husband, our 2-year-old autistic son, and I were looking forward to spending the day enjoying lunch and drinks at the event.
Upon arrival, we were stopped at the entrance and asked to show the contents of our baby changing bagâno problem there. I explained that we had packed a small sandwich for our son, who, like many toddlers with additional needs, can be very selective with food. My husband and I fully intended to purchase food from the festival stalls, which was the main reason we attended.
However, we were told that outside food was strictly prohibitedâeven a simple sandwich in a childâs lunchbox. We were given the option to either dispose of it or leave it at the entrance. This meant our son would have nothing to eat while we dined, which we politely explained to the staff.
Unfortunately, our concerns were met with dismissive and rude responses, including: âWell, it is a food placeâwhat do you expect?â Frankly, we expected a more understanding and accommodating approach, especially for families with young children and additional needs. We had planned to spend well over ÂŁ100 during our visit, and itâs disappointing that such inflexibility and poor customer service overshadowed what should have been...
Read moreFabulous location right by the canal. The food was freshly cooked by their own chef and doesnât disappoint. Several specials each day, see the board, plus a sizeable menu plus Sunday roast dinners. I was amazed the my veg was freshly cooked, Savoy cabbage, fine green beans, leeks and carrots not a frozen veggie in sight! Bliss. The chips were also not frozen but freshly prepared and these paired with rump steak strips cooked fresh with onions mushrooms and red peppers and served with a peppercorn sauce. We had cask ales and a cider selection which were from local breweries in Wigan. Wonderful food and drink and location by the peaceful canal. Amazing friendly staff and lovely friendly locals. We donât judge a book by itâs cover, dive in and experience what it has to offer. We will be back on a...
