Was really looking forward to our visit after seeing and hearing such fab reviews but was left a little underwhelmed. The pub itself is a cute little cosy old fashioned place. The tables seemed nicely spread out so you werent super crammed and as we had booked, even though we were about 10 minutes early we didn't have to hang around.
I had the the BLT sandwich which on the menu stated it was served with coleslaw salad and chips. I asked to swap the chips for fries and I didn't want any salad or coleslaw. Didn't have to wait too long and the chips were delicious. Went to start the sandwich and there was mayonnaise all over the bread which was not stated on the menu or else I would have asked for it without. The waitress kindly took it back and the chef made me a new one and it returned fairly quick. Personal taste that the bacon seemed only just cooked and I prefer it more well done and the bread seemed dry so having no sauce you should be given the option of butter maybe? But it need to start on the menu there is mayonnaise on the sandwich.
My friend had the Spicy Chicken sandwich and asked for it without the spicy sauce on the bread or any salad of coleslaw, she literally just wanted the sandwich and chips and yet her plate came with everything on it. She thought she may aswell give the sauce a go and actually enjoyed it but had to remove all the salad. And for £9 per sandwich you would expect it to come however you asked the first time around.
I could understand if it was busy but at 1pm on Saturday it wasn't really very busy at all from the amount of food we could see coming from the kitchen.
Will probably return and try something else, I've heard the pies and the pizzas are good. Maybe today just wasn't a...
Read moreWent for Sunday lunch booked a table was asked to sit in a area which was the area for people with Dogs. Like dogs but didn't want my Sunday lunch with them. Was not asked if I was okay with this area but they did offer us another table 16 which was fine. We ordered soup and Sunday lunch. We then waited for 35 minutes for the soup. Eventually after asking it turned up was nice but like warm probably been waiting for service. Main course was nice but service needs some attention in my opinion. Thanks
Thank you for your response but I feel my review was fair. I made the booking on line at 11.50 hrs and confirmed by phone 12-10 pm 3 hrs before there was no mention you were fitting me in.?? I have been to resturants all over the world and never had to ask for a table away from Dogs. I take it you have CCTV in the pub check it you will see we did have to wait 35 minutes for my soup. Probably made ready in the kitchen but wasn't delivered to the table hence why the soup...
Read moreAfter taking the dog for a very cold walk today around Crank caverns we were looking for somewhere nice and warm to relax and enjoy some food before heading home. We found this pub on google and we're there within minutes. Although it was quite busy when we arrived so we had to wait about 10 minutes for a table, the staff were lovely and really welcoming, providing water and pigs ears for the dog and hot chocolate for the kids. The atmosphere in the pub was lovely and cosy with log fires and little nooks.Toilets were lovely and spotless Food was absolutely delicious with generous servings, service was excellent. I have never reviewed a place online before but was so pleased with our visit today I thought I had too. Thanks you to all the staff for making my family and my little dog very welcome, it's very hard to find somewhere nice to go when you have a dog with you so this place is a little gem. Will definitely be...
