Had a short walk to the Crown and was met with a nice welcome and secured a table for two without a wait. There are three eating areas inside and also tables outside. We sat in the conservatory which was a nice bright area but not much of a view as it's hidden by the parked cars. The staff bought over the menu and got us drinks very quickly then gave us five minutes to look at the menu, reasonable choice of meals and well priced. We decided not to have starters but looking at others who did they looked good we had the lamb shank and the peppered chicken for mains, both were excellent, well cooked and presented, and the portions were a very good size. We were so full after the main meal neither of us wanted a pudding. The staff had just the right level of interaction we had coffee after the meal before leaving. If you are hungry and want a great filling meal I recommend going off the beaten track to dine here I am sure it won't disappoint, they can also handle a party table of a dozen people if you want to visit as a group It was relatively quiet on the Tuesday night we visited, but we will certainly be returning to try more off their menu! Returned on 28th July had another fantastic meal it beat me which is hard to do lovely pork loin with all the trimmings certainly did not disappoint

The roast dinners were tasty but was a little dissapointed as we over head a couple complaining that there wasnt enough veg on and low and behold the dishes to be served after ours had alot more vegtables on other than that i have no complaints on the roast dinners everything else went down a treat except i didnt like the cheese cake it wasnt great ( probs personal prefference) the only down fall is the seating arrangments i dont mind that they allow dogs in the place but i do feel that they should have a dog area and then people without dogs only for the reason that a dog kept licking my child luckily it was my little girl and not my little boy who is allergic i didnt know before entering that they were dog friendly and didnt really mind just a little suggestion that you have an dog area and a non dog area i would go back again and recommend , just little mishaps but nothing major to not recommend or not go again

It's a large pub with plenty of dining areas and excellent food. A good stopover (in our case en route from Scotland to London), just off the M6. Plenty of car parking space. Ours was a cosy room with a view over the surrounding fields. No problem charging your phone or anything, I counted 8 x double sockets around the room, including both sides of the bed! A really good shower (apparently they've just installed a heavyweight pump to boost the pressure in the bathrooms). The staff were excellent and we had a great evening in the bar chatting till late with staff and locals. Be warned, they only do breakfast on a Sunday morning. It's a dog-friendly pub, which is great, but not so great when a dog starts barking relentlessly at 0740 on a Sunday.

Myself and my partner hired the whole of the Crown on NYE 2023. We had our wedding breakfast, upstairs, and then in the evening come downstairs where we had entertainment. As you can imagine we booked with the crown around 12 months in advance, and from the start the communication between ourselves and Andrew and Nic was exceptional with constant check ins and catch ups whether this be txt, dropping into the Crown unexpectedly just to clarify things, which made us feel comfortable with the events for the main day. To put it into context we had over 70 people in the day, and this increased to around 150 in the evening. The crown was pivotal to the smooth running of the day this included setting the room up for ceremony, breakfast, supporting with all pour guests needs, as well as catering a full 3 course meal for all our day guests, which must be said was fantastic, the number of comments we received of our guests saying this was the best meal they have had at a wedding I had lost count! Again, for our evening guests we had the homemade pizzas and some creative grazing boards which looked brilliant too and were a nice touch to an evening party where people can just graze and no need for plates etc.

We made use of all the rooms at the Crown too, which were lovely and clean and just what we needed with some of our guests not local. Andrew and Nic worked well with our other suppliers and literally helped the whole day go seamlessly, and we literally couldn’t fault a thing. They are really open to using the venue however you really want, we even had the main restaurant downstairs as a dancefloor. The venue was staffed appropriately so there were no long queues at the bar for the guests which is always a bonus!

For the quality of food and service we received we thought the pricing at the crown was also super reasonable, and to top it off Andrew really can put his hand to anything, he did our fireworks in the evening which was a special touch we decided we wanted, so he got them and set them off on our behalf and these were great addition to our pictures and videos. Nic is super creative and will support with room dressing, food inspiration...

My partner and myself went for a meal at the Crown last night. Saturday and the place was very very quiet. This should have been a warning. We were shown to our table for two in the conservatory, at the very back of the restaurant, although most of the tables were free in the restaurant ? My partner had trouble to squeeze in to his seat, as all the room was taken up with a large fire extinguisher next to his seat, and a child’s highchair hanging off the wall, the legs having been used to keep the fire exit closed. |I asked to be moved as it was also quite cold as well.|The waitress moved us to the restaurant. |We asked for the drinks menu and or wine menu, they didn’t have one. I don’t think I’ve ever been to a restaurant that didn’t have a wine/drinks menu.|We managed to order a bottle of wine without knowing what choice was on offer. |We had nachos to start between us which were nice. But when the main course came, I had ordered medium rare Ribeye steak, it arrived medium to well done very thin, and I doubt it was 10ozs in weight. The onion rings were overcooked. My partners Crown burger was mediocre at best. Neither meal were worth the expensive price they were charging, my partners onion rings were greasy and not very nice. I had apple crumble which was much better with a small scoop of ice cream. I did speak to the manager who apologised and took 10% off the food bill. |But I did ask him why there was no wine/drinks list. He said he had been too busy over Christmas and January with functions to have time to do one ?|I think there was a function that evening upstairs||.We hadn’t visited The Crown for a few years, and I don’t think we will be visiting again in a hurry. |The standards seem to have really gone down unfortunately. There are a lot of other local restaurants we can frequent which are a lot more convenient, and more...

Visited Friday evening for an anniversary meal, thought we would try it as we had eaten there many years ago, and food was very good, we also ate there after renewing our vows. The place has been refurbished to a good standard and looked fresh, perhaps too fresh as wife felt cold. The girl at the door was polite and took our temperature then led us to our table . Wasn’t too long wait before the lady took our food and drinks order. The menu had been reduced due to Covid so not lots of choices but that was fine, still enough to choose from. We both had the Sirloin Steak, it is priced at £22, so was looking forward to it. After the soup which was Parsnip and cheddar, very nice indeed, the steak arrived. How disappointing, this steak was no more than you would get from a local frozen food shop where you could get three for £10!! Small, fatty, thin, £22 really! Mine had to be returned as it had been cooked rare, and not Medium and had to wait 10/15 minutes before it came back to the table, my wife by this time had finished her meal. The lady told me that they had cooked me a fresh steak, well if they did this was the smallest steak in the world. The taste was really nice but for £22 I would want more than four fork fulls. Over all funny enough the place is nice and if you go for a basic meal, burger/ gammon etc, they where priced about right. The drinks where expensive also. We were not offered a desert menu so can’t comment on the desserts. Possibly would return for basic meal but not in the near future, If they want returning customers , they need to sort the meat out. Maybe they bought cheap meat in the eat out to help out scheme!! Just a thought. It would also have been a nice gesture to offer us a drink or reduce our bill for the mistake on cooking my Steak and ruining our...
