Firstly, let me say that the food was excellent. We ordered the Fish Pie, Beef Burger and children's Beef Burger, none of which we had any quarrel with. Cooked to perfection, tasty, brilliant.

However, that's unfortunately where the praise ends. Now, let me just explain that this was a rural Pub Restaurant. I expect to pay more but I also expect a higher level of service, due to the cost.

The table was sticky, to a point where my daughter's menu actually stuck to it. The staff said to leave it there as, "once you're gone, we'll give it a good clean." I'm generally used to the tables being cleaned BEFORE we're seated.

Next, while talking to my gf, the staff arrived and asked if we would like desserts. Fine in theory, but I was mid-sentence. WAIT is literally in their job description.

Next, and it's a possible admin error, we were offered a 50% reduction on my child's meal of £10. Clearly, that's £5 but only £3.75 was applied.

Finally, in connection to the bill, be wary of the small print for extras to your meal. Adding cheese and bacon to my burger cost an extra £4! Yes, again it IS written on the menu and it tasted amazing, but at a cost!

Difficult to decide if I'd recommend the place to be honest. Beautiful food, but remember to read the fine print and bring your own...

We booked a table of seven (inc one 12 year old) for 7.45 Saturday evening. We explained it was a birthday for one of us and could we bring a small cake/candle etc. Yes ok BA said. Arrived 7.45 and ordered drinks/starters/mains etc. Fairly slow service so on three seperate occasions one of us went to the bar and explained the 12 year old was beginning to get quite sleepy. It became clear that all service was being controlled by the unseen chef in the kitchen who obviously could not give a damm about us because TWO HOURS after we arrived we were still awaiting our main courses and our 12 year old was now head on table sound asleep being ignored by the powerless staff. The food? we gave it 5 out of 10. Only one of us had a meal with nothing to criticise. We gave up on the cake and just wanted to get out of the place as soon as we had completed the mains. we were offered one bottle of wine as recompense but as we would not have ordered this if it had been a normal time frame it was a rather hollow gesture. Despite this I still lleft a £28.00 tip on a bill of £210.00approx. They were not that...

'Mash potato pie?! ' - My partner and I had lunch there on 10 June. We were given a table right by the front door where it is adjacent to the main road and very noisy as the door was open. We asked the staff if we could move to a different table; she did agree, thank you. However, the table by the back door we moved to had bread crumbs on the table and spider web on the windows...As to the food, we both had starter and main; my partner's two dishes were ok; however, mine were both disasters. I ordered 'Homemade Chicken Liver Parfait' as starter which had extremely strong pungent raw garlic taste and I could not eat it at all. Not sure why chef put so much raw garlic in the parfait/pate? My main was the 'fish pie' which was on the special board and recommended by the owner; however, it came in a tiny bake-ware (as small as the palm of my hand) and underneath the mash potato and cheese topping, it only had two small pieces of salmon...that was it - was it a mash potato pie or fish pie? Very...

This once spectacular pub/restaurant has slid way down the gastronomic ladder. It was always a place I'd hope to visit on each of my visit to the UK. But no more. Three of us ordered a trio of quote SEARED scallops. As you can see one had passed a happyish time in the pan but not the others. In fact we each had one seared scalloped and two flabby others. As you can see the presentation left much to be desired. The chips of rock hard chorizo added nothing to the dish, but there again neither did the cold pea puree nor the completely unidentifiable sauce. I didn't complain at the time as I was a guest, but its definitely time for Adam to get back into the kitchen.

Having a later table booked for Sunday Lunch 3.30pm the pub was relatively quiet but still Ben and Chloe made you feel welcome with their professional friendly approach. The complementary sourdough with balsamic vinegar and oil with rock salt was a nice touch. You really don't need a starter when you see the size of the extremely warm plate with an amazing selection of fresh vegetables, with a very good portion of meat, the roast potatoes were delicious crispy and tasted amazing. Proper homemade looking dinner. Service was great. We go out for Sunday lunch often and this has gone straight into top 3. Well done team.
