My first visit I took my mum visiting from Spain and did not know about the no cards rule, but asking about where I could get cash locally was like pulling teeth, although we had enough to have a round and food, the menu was so limited , the food was overpriced, slow to arrive and was just very poor pub grub.
On my second visit I have found the staff had not got any friendly and I realised its a locals pub, and they sure made us feel unwelcome. The pub is in a village you have to drive too, they seemed annoyed that I ordered some soft drinks (not chilled), due to one driving and one not drinking, ordering crisps seemed like a chore and asking about wifi well it was like I had just asked for the moon on a stick, lets just say I was not allowed to use it, though I suspect those in favour could, being as the wifi name is the Pub name it did not suggest it was private and I asked nicely but there was no pleasant response that it was for overnight guest only or something like that it was a sharp one word answer "No" . Lets just say we had not planned too but we did leave after one drink anyway. My wife did remark I wondered why you came back after the first time, she was right we shouldnt have.
The Brewery and the beer is fantastic, but wont be visiting Inn again unless I hear of sea change. I will order my flowerpots beer from another pub or for local shop for home consumption where I am treated in a nice and pleasant manner. Shame as it could be a super nice village pub with a unique set of beers.

Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe Flower Pots Inn is a friendly pub in the quaint village of Cheriton, Hampshire. You can find Chertion by using the A272 or the A31 near New Alresford.
The Pots, as its regulars know it, is one of Hampshire's hidden gems. The pub is set in quite a large area with plenty of parking, which includes disabled parking bays.
I've been visiting The Pots for many years; I've enjoyed meals and drinks with my family and friends, and I now drop in with my own family and always receive excellent service from their staff.
In their own words, the Pots make locally sourced simple food cooked well, which I wholeheartedly agree with based on my last visit. Recently, I enjoyed their excellent Bitter Battered Haddock, Chips and Peas with a pint of their brewed beer. I can't pass up a tasty treat to finish my meal; their Lemon Meringue is terrific. Although I have yet to visit on a Wednesday, I understand that's their curry night - I need to book a table pronto. I'll update this review after I've popped in for a meal.
If you visit the Pots, I recommend booking, which you can do by using their website, which I found quick and easy.
I recommend a visit to the Pots; you won't be...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreFirstly the beer - faultless and desperately good value at Ā£3.70/pint. Just come here and get your carbs from that, itās enough! I had a prawn cocktail. It was very 70s, as it should be, but the prawns were rather small and the flavour rather lacking. Pre-pack butter, solid from the fridge, should have been left in the 70s. The ploughmanās was pretty decent. Old Winchester is good cheese but the Brie was ok/average. The ham was very salty and not great quality, although cut thick (perhaps that denotes quality to some?). Nice salad, decent bread although a bit more wouldnāt harm. White cocktail pickled onions (yuck) but lovey chutney. If small things like the ham, prawns, onions and pre-pack butter (really, still?) were changed out for better quality items, it would be a full five stars. Very pleasant service at table but the (inexperienced?) lady behind the bar was a bit flustered with simple requests from other guests that made everyone feel slightly uncomfortable. Just relax and talk naturally to...
