Went today for breakfast. At first I thought it was taking a long time to come. But when the breakfast arrived it was clear why.
Everything had been cooked fresh. We all had the large fry up.
Each item was cooked to perfection. The eggs had a lovely runny middle, beans nice and hot. Mushrooms tasty, black pudding perfect, sausages full of flavour and the chorizo hash was sublime. Even the butter for the toast was real butter. And the toast fresh and delicious, and I think it was a fresh baked farmhouse bread. It certainly wasn’t supermarket bread.
I highly recommend you try this traditional country pub that shares the kings name a visit. I am a local but this was my first visit for breakfast. I think I may go on different days and work through the breakfast menu.
They do everything from a full fry up, to scrambled eggs to smashed avocado.
Give it a go you will not be disappointed. It was £10 for the large brekkie we had. Value for...
Read more4th time I've been here, twice for Sunday lunch, and recently on 2 Saturday evenings. We had the same server both Saturdays, Ollie, and they were fantastic, recognised us, made a huge fuss of my dog, brilliant service, I had pie and mash which was delicious but I asked if I could have just 1 chip as I couldn't decide between chips or mash, and the chef made a small stonehenge of chips in my mash lols, you wouldn't get such fun service in a chain pub. The food is really nice, all tastes fresh and the menu is varied. Sunday lunches are great too, but the Saturday night meals we have had have been excellent on all levels, and it's not too busy so you can sit and enjoy your meal in a lovely ambience. But the service is absolutely top notch. I almost don't want to leave a review in case we can't get a seat again lols, but the staff are what makes the place so good, including the chef adding the...
Read moreWe visited the pub today for a family meal after we had scattered my Grandma's ashes and it was the most unpleasant pub experience I have ever had. The music being played in the background was not appropriate for a Friday lunchtime at a pub. The waitress was incredibly rude, when I queried why my chicken parmigiana had pepperoni on it which wasn't stated on the menu. She stated that it was my fault for not listening when she had explained what it is down the other end of our table for 12- which I obviously hadn't heard or I wouldn't have ordered. She was incredibly defensive when I told her this should be stated on the menu as it's not normally part of the dish. She then said she could ask the chef to do me another one but I'd have to pay for both. The situation was resolved in the end but not with an apology from the extremely rude waitress. The food was also overpriced...
