Family evening meal Booked an earl table on Sunday. Expected to find the restaurant full. We were the only table booked for dining. Sadly less than six other people just in for drinks, and they did not stay for very long. Bonus for us, on this occasion it felt as though we had our own chef and waiters. The Food was excellent and we had very large portions.

A few more customers would have greatly improved the atmosphere.

First visit of 2024 Service and food as good as ever. Large portions well cooked and presented. Not as busy when we first arrived, but customers continued to arrive, during our dining. Bonus a pub or business where the toilets are spotless. A few more establishments are a long way from this standard Always a pleasure to return

Another visit to the Otter. October. This time dining for nine people on a Sunday lunchtime. Quality of food and service still excellent, despite three large tables being served and a busy bar. Seven roast dinners six roast beef and one pork, very large portions, smaller portions can be requested.Best roast dinner to date in the Eastleigh area. One chicken in creamy chilli sauce and chips. One pizza and garlic bread off the children's menu. PREVIOUS VISIT Dining for four people on a Saturday evening. The staff were very attentive and provided excellent service. A very good menu with a number of very good choices, there was also a specials board to accompany the main menu. Wide choices of starters mains and desserts which should suit most people. Excellent meals served at a comfortable pace allowing us to thoroughly enjoy our dining. Wine list adequate and not too expensive.. Good selection of drinks from the bar

Very busy at the time of our visit and would therefore recommending booking a table. One of the best pubs in the Eastleigh area for dining especially as this standard has been maintained. Outside seating area suitable for warmer times Large car...

We recently had the pleasure of visiting The Otter Pub in Otterbourne, and it truly exceeded our expectations.

From the moment we stepped through the door, we were welcomed with genuine warmth by the bar staff. Their friendly and attentive manner immediately made us feel at ease and set the tone for a thoroughly enjoyable visit. It’s always refreshing to experience such outstanding customer service—it really makes all the difference.

The food was nothing short of phenomenal. Each dish was clearly crafted with care, packed with rich, satisfying flavours and beautifully presented. Whether you’re visiting for a casual meal or something a little more special, you can expect quality and attention to detail from the kitchen. It’s evident that the team take great pride in what they do.

The pub itself has a warm and inviting atmosphere, making it an ideal spot to relax and unwind. The setting is charming, and the overall vibe is friendly and unpretentious—perfect whether you’re popping in for a pint or staying for a full meal.

The outdoor spaces are also a real highlight. Spacious and sunny from morning until evening, the garden areas are very well presented with plenty of tables and chairs available, making it an excellent spot to enjoy good weather. It’s clearly well looked after and offers a relaxed, comfortable setting for dining or drinks outdoors.

We also noticed that the pub is dog-friendly, with a small wooded area nearby and a large green space just opposite, which is a lovely touch for those visiting with pets.

Our visit was only a short one this time, so we didn’t get to explore the surrounding area as much as we’d have liked—but based on this experience, we’re already looking forward to returning soon.

Highly recommended for anyone in the area or passing through—you won’t be...

I know it wasn't steak Tuesday and there was a private function on but the rump steaks we ordered on Saturday evening we not good, sorry. It wasn't just the steaks!! Chunky chips to me mean about 6 - 8 chunky chips but we had half plate full of medium sized so please state if they are not!! Out of the 4 eggs seved not one was runny! I'd rather have 1 runny one. My peppercorn and my husbands Diane sauce was a large jug, far too much, which was the concistency of milk, it wasn't a sauce it was so runny you couldn't pour it over the steak it would have floated, it dripped everywhere. The steaks both looked rather small, they were two steaks rather than one large and medium rare means medium rare, not medium well! Our meal came out with the table next to us who we realised had also ordered steaks and we got them all the same time so we didn't feel time was spent on just our meal which it should have been for the price which wasn't cheap. The mushrooms were good! We usually have a good meal but there was so much not right. First (and last) time we will...

This country style village pub has so much character, the pub has such a welcoming feel as you enter the building, the restaurant is a relaxed space with a nice layout. All of the staff are great, so friendly, welcoming and helpful. The level of service from all the staff was fantastic. The quality of the food is amazing, the selection on the menu is great and the specials menu had a great range of meals to choose from. I can highly recommend the Otter Fish Pie, so full of flavour and the Scottish Salmon Fillet, Atlantic Cod in Cream and White Wine Sauce Topped with Mashed Potato & Vegetables is a must try dish. When you are asked if you wish to see the desert menu you have to say YES... You must try the Chocolate Honeycombe Cheesecake. The combination of the flavours of the chocolate, cheesecake and cream are just perfect... This is must visit country pub, the food is excellent and the service is great. Well worth a visit.

Great spot for a drink – loved the local beer and sunny terrace We stopped by The Otter Pub around 5pm for a few drinks. Unfortunately, the kitchen wasn’t open yet (starts at 6pm), so we didn’t get to try the food — but we really enjoyed our time there. The locally brewed Otter beer was excellent — fresh, flavourful, and definitely worth trying. The terrace was a real highlight too: sunny, relaxed, and a great spot to unwind with a pint. Looking forward to coming back another time to try the food. Based on the beer and atmosphere alone, it’s already a solid recommendation!
