Dropped in for a lunchtime bite to eat and a beer, and certainly wasn't disappointed. A good selection of locally brewed beers and a very good choice of meals or snacks available. Beer straight from the barrel! A brilliant, friendly pub. The pub has extended into the building alongside, creating much larger seating and entertainment areas. Good sized garden, and plenty of parking over the road. Good to chat with the staff and watch the banter with the locals. Well worth a visit.

Follow Mr & Mrs R on TikTok. Smashing traditional, semi rural pub. Real ale straight from the barrel and lovely cellar chilled ciders fresh from the cellar. Plenty of room inside the pub and a big real sun trap garden out the back. Food is plenty full, well prepared and presented. Highly recommended for anyone looking for good ale and food at a affordable price. Fount of pub parking or there is big car park on the opposite side of the road.

I don't know how we have not been in this pub before, we have driven past it many times, Perhaps because it is quite unassuming on the outside, on a well used road. However, the pub is full of charm with a car park opposite. Staff were friendly and food wholesome. I had salt and pepper squid followed by a steak and ale casserole. 😋 Will definitely be back.

Great little pub with a real 'old fashioned' feel about it. Welcoming staff and friendly locals. There is parking directly outside the property...but be aware...this requires that you reverse out onto a road with a bend, that restricts your vision and conversely that of any car using that road.

Safer by far to use the car park opposite...but be careful walking across the road!!!

No music, no TV sports, no tracksuit wearing hoards, just great beer and a lovely garden. Worth a visit.

UPDATE: It has been 6 years+ since I posted this review, but a visit today has cause for this important update.

If you choose to pay by card, be aware that they have a minimum charge of £10.00!!!

As my visit was a solo one and I was driving (I never have more than 1 pint if I'm behind the wheel), this automatically excluded me from buying a drink. But you are inside and at the bar before you are given this information? Surely it warrants a notice on the door? It all seems very unfriendly to those...

Been going to the wheatsheaf for about 3 years it's been an OK pub some nice people in there. John the head barman, grumpy sod but a mate, you'll get to like him we do! OK small garden, food well cooked by Sally. Staff in general nce you always get a few unfriendly ones in every pub! Pub dogs lovely definitely a pub of 2 half's, though beer usually good but here's the problem 3 price increases in about a year is taking the piss! Real ale made by god knows who is really very good home brew too expensive! And the only way to make a point is by walking, which is a great shame and I'm a regular 5 tlmes a wk but enoughs enough will pop in once in a while if I'm not barred but hayho life...
