I ordered £30 worth of Sushi from here and It was awful!. 1/10.
I ordered Tuna & Avocado Maki only to find when I got home they used tinned tuna instead of raw tuna. Raw tuna is a standard expectation in any tuna sushi. Period. You would NEVER use tinned tuna in sushi unless if you were making it for yourself at home and not selling it commercially/ as a business. This is really unprofessional and most likely done to save costs. At the very least state on your menu that the tuna is tinned and not raw.
I also ordered the 'Crispy Hoisin Duck Maki'. I've had this elsewhere many times and you would expect fresh duck, green veg and it to be freshly made. Instead, AiSushi offering was a duck spring roll stuffed in the middle of the rice & seaweed?! Very misleading for a cheap frozen spring roll. Again the name is misleading on the menu and it should probably be called 'Duck Spring Roll Maki'.
I hate to complain but I must go on. The rice used in the Sushi tasted like unflavoured plain white rice. It had zero taste and was completely bland. It should have a sweet taste. I completely understand each chef has their take on recipes but this was yet another letdown where they'd gone away from what Sushi is and made a quicker cheaper option.
Finally, the sushi isn't as fresh. Or at least mine wasn't. Its pre-made the previous day or that morning and the woman confirmed this on the phone when I called back so it's 12 hours old at the minimum. If you're expecting freshly made to order Sushi avoid here and go elsewhere.
I called the owner up on the phone straight away and politely asked if I could return the unopened boxes for some sort of partial refund but she point blank said not a chance and that it wasn't their fault. I felt I got quite a rude response from her. She also said she was from Asia so she knew how to make Sushi, a bit of a blanket statement. I know plenty of Sushi places that offer outstanding food, not all are Asian owned?
To summarise, I felt this was a huge letdown on taste, freshness, quality and customer service. The actual sushi tasted closer to the Tesco meal deal sushi than something a Chef had freshly prepared which is fine if that's what you would expect.
Oh on a final note my Golden Retriever who eats literally anything refused to eat the Sushi. Just an observation. Avoid,...
Read moreWe ordered over £30 worth of food and requested no cucumber (shouldn’t be a problem as they say the cater to allergies). It arrived over an hour later (they said delivery would be within the hour) and it was wrong. We phoned straight away and they said replacements would be sent out within 30min, over an hour and ten minutes later it still hadn’t arrived because they’re too busy. This meant that over half our meal was wrong and the rest was cold by the time the replacement dishes (it was also 20:30 when we placed the order at 18:34). They’ve refused a refund through food hub even though they said to contact them to arrange it on the phone. I would stay clear.
The duck sushi is also just a cheap spring roll wrapped in rice which is not what it says...
Read moreI tried AiSushi for the first time a few nights ago, and I was really impressed! The food was tasty, had vegan options (which I really appreciate), was well-priced (that 28-piece veggie/vegan platter is excellent value!), and the ability to get things like Inari pockets and pumpkin korokke locally is fantastic! My partner had never had real sushi before (only the cardboard stuff that they serve in supermarket chilled take-out counters), and this has really excited her to try more - so that's a definite compliment to AiSushi, for getting that right. I'm looking forward to...
