We had booked a table at 6.30 on fathers day only to get there and be told they were stopping food. They ended up agreeing to stay open for us but I want impressed with the outcome.
The lad on the bar was very polite but couldn't use the till or even remember what the three of us had ordered (three meals no sides). After him taking a literal 15 minutes to imput our order, we then sat down at a table which my hand stuck to. No one came to wipe the table. 15 minutes later the chap we had ordered the food with was passing us, looked over and shouted "do you need cutlery" I'm unsure what he wanted in reply.
It then took a further 20 minutes to receive our food, there was us and another table in there (I now see why) and the other table had eaten and cleared their own plates off onto another table.
My brother had a mixed grill and said it was nice although his steak was medium not blue. My beef was ok but the Yorkshire was black and the veg came in a separate bowl (over cooked peas and green beans with 1 slice of carrot). My dads beer was horrible and cloudy. Overall...
Read moreI and two friends visited this establishment last week. There was bingo on which was quite enjoyable and unexpected. The man who was doing this was lovely. We ordered food. My friend got salt and pepper chicken which she couldn't eat as it was so spicy, actually very, very spicy. This wasn't mentioned when ordered. I received cottage pie. It was covered with so much cheese I struggle to find the potatoes. Cheese was never mentioned in the discription on the menu. I had to ask for tea I ordered and I had to ask for the gravy that was supposed to come with the meal. Fish and chips was certainly not worth the £14. The lady serving was lovely no issues with her what's so ever. The atmosphere was great, the actual decor was lovely but the food really let it down. I would visit again but...
Read more12 of us booked a Xmas meal here: pre-ordering several weeks before. A few had starters but the mains didn't begin appearing until over an hour after our arrival time. Four of the party(who weren't having a Xmas dinner) were almost finished by the time the other mains arrived. The plates were piled high with a ridiculous amount of food which was barely warm. There were huge slabs of meat, mostly inedible and heaps of cold vegetables, topped off with a crunchy, dry yorkshire pud. The majority of food is frozen, including the two gigantic profitteroles (strange taste) which were frankly, intimidating! The pub itself was pretty soulless and considering it was virtually empty, with no other diners, the service was incredibly slow! If you've booked a Xmas meal here I'd cancel now,...
