Overall Comments Nice venue, pretty friendly staff, and decent quality food just very small portions. Overall a pretty good experience and would definitely stop in again for a drink but not necessarily to plan as a dinner venue. 3. 5 out 5 stars.

Venue & Atmosphere: 4/5 Really nice warm feeling pub, quiet cosy place, good setup with nice areas for sitting, games, drinking and dining. Clean and tidy presentation and very snuggly in the winter season!

Service: 3/5 Friendly staff to talk to but not a particularly high focus on service. We had to find dinner seating ourselves somewhere in the pub (we settled on the games room area), we also had to get cutlery and menu's ourselves as well as go to the bar to order rather than having attended service.

Food & Drink: 3/5 One starter to share and two mains. The quality of food was quite good and the gnocchi in particular was very tasty but the portion was quite small and we were both quite hungry still after the meal. It was a little dissapointing as it would have been good to have slightly more food as it was fine on the taste front but there just wasn't enough in in our view.

Location & Travel: 3/5 Just off the main road so easy to find and not too noisy. Have quite good parking available in their own car park opposite the pub. Very suitable for local residents but not too near any other amenities, around 20 mins walk from Worplesdon Station.

Cost: £ - ££££

Really disappointing father's day lunch. Ordered a very pricey gnocchi for £17, expecting a decent sized portion but instead received a serving size no bigger than a handful of about 6 gnocchi, a few stems of brocoli and 1 tinned artichoke cut in half. We also had to wait 1 hour for our food. I was with family so didn't make a fuss and run the risk of upsetting the atmosphere. Staff were otherwise very friendly however we did have to ask on more than one occasion on where our food is. Customer service would have been better if instead of us asking, the staff could have checked in with us with updates on food times with apologies. Waiting an hour for a mediocre and tiny sized meal which was not cheap was a real downer. Other members of my family left a lot of their food behind because it was dry or lacking flavour. The management should have offered a reduction off the bill as most venues would having recognised the time it took to bring the food out. Might be a good place for drinks but would avoid the food here.

Update: I have seen your response and I do stand corrected, the food that was left behind by some of my party was because it was either covered in mustard, which my uncle did not like, or the beef was too dry therefore too dense to finish. I see there is no response to my comment about my dish.

I know exactly what pub I went to and will call you seperatly to give you my personal feedback. I will then share which party and at what time we arrived, where we had to wait an hour for our mains.

We had a wonderful anniversary meal at the Drumming Snipe. The service was really good, the waitstaff were friendly and efficient, making us feel so at home. We started with the asparagus and poached egg, and the roast coronation crab. Unfortunately, the asparagus was slightly overcooked but the egg was perfect. Additionally, the coronation crabs’ flavours did not work well because there was an overall taste of lemon and curry which overpowered the delicate crab but these are issues that can be improved. However, the main courses were exceptional. We had Atlantic Cod with cockles and Double Chuck and Rib Burger with fries. The burger was on par with the best I’ve ever had - absolutely delicious. Everything went together perfectly, and those triple cooked chips - well, I had to fight my husband for them. We ended our meal with Sticky Toffee Pudding and White Chocolate Cheesecake, both desserts were amazingly good and not oversweet which is sometimes the case with rich desserts. They also surprised us with a slice of their dark chocolate fondant tart with a happy anniversary message, it was so kind of them and again was a delicious dessert. We will definitely be returning to this restaurant and are happy to recommend it to others for its excellent food...
