Beyond Dire. We booked & paid a deposit for a music evening @ 2 courses £20. Phoned 10 days before for more details but staff on duty had no idea & told us manager would call tomorrow. Nothing happened. Four days before event we get a call "have you made menu choices"? Er, you haven't told us what menu is. Had to drive to pub to get menu sheet only to find the staff on duty had no idea & had to make repeated trips to managers office to find out and answer questions like "this is a 2 course menu for £16.45 but another leaflet on display says there is no charge for watching the performance, why £20" - answer - that would be for the advertised "Free Cocktail" that no one actually wanted! Our choices were booked 2 days before the event. On the night we arrived a few minutes early, the room was half full and gradually filled up. Other tables that arrived after us were served food whilst we waited and waited and waited. Kept being told "not long". The table next to us were half way through main course when our starters arrived! More than an hour & half after arriving still no main course so went to bar to complain only to be given whingeing story about how hard they were working because staff hadn't turned up. Not an actual apology! Apparently the Manager & Area Manager were working in the kitchen - just a shame no one took the time to manage customer expectations. Asked why tables that had arrived before us were now on the sweet course an Assitant Manger offered to refund our money but would then "throw us out"! Be very careful about complaining here! After nearly two hours the food arrived and it was good, the performers were excellent. Mitre Oak - dreadful!
Response: Being critical of a situation where people wait around two hours for food is NOT verbal abuse! Did anyone (should have been a manager) come out to explain the problems and give an idea of the delay we were facing - no. Were any snacks offered to each table to keep us going as the hours passed by - no. We ended up buying packets of crisps! Leaving immature staff who burst into tears in the face of criticism of the management of an event to face the public whilst hiding in the kitchen are not the actions of a...
Read moreEdit.... As per managers suggestion we went back to the mitre oak. We were greeted by friendly staff member and when I asked for the Gm he came instantly, we ordered our food with him and were given a very generous amount off our bill. The food this time was lovely the burger was one of the best I'd had in a while and the gravy that accompanied it was delicious, my son even said he enjoyed his and for a 12 year old who usually just grunts that's an accomplishment. Thank you for making our experience better. We hope to come again soon!
Been a while since we last visited. Family of four meals was told the wit was 45 minutes which was wired since the pub wasnt busy . After a long wait my food was brought out wrong I was given a beef burger rather than a chicken burger. The waitress took it away and returned within minutes with a chicken burger, which didn't have the bacon or lettuce and the burger bun was cold like it had just defrosted. My sons same order was hot and had the toppings. I took my food to the bar where it was took off me for a member of staff to return with same burger and ask me what's wrong with it. I explained it had been returned without toppings and the bun was cold. Less than 5 minutes later the same burger came back out with lettuce and bacon and a cold bun. The chips also looked like the fat needed changing in the fryer as there was black burnt bits in them We had hoped for pudding but seen as we all hadn't eaten together and the 3 year old was now impatient we left as we didn't fancy another wait on desserts. We also changed tables as the stench of the mens toilet was gross, a member of staff said they always smelt like that.. After spending £70 it wasn't the greatest sending food back twice. The only nice thing I can say is the play area...
Read moreBooked a table for a surprise celebrate for my mum's 80th Birthday, 4,05,25 along with 4 generations of close family. It was fantastic the staff had placed us in a big booth as there were 16 of us. We were allowed to take in big balloons and table decorations. They had the cake of me to keep in the fridge, even put the decorations on it for me, they brought it out when I asked. They even came an took pictures for us so we could get one with everyone in it. The staff were brilliant so friendly, helpful an very kind. As my sister an I are celiac's the food was prepared and brought out separate and with care to make sure they weren't mixed up, or came into contact with others foods. Which was very nice as some places don't take to much care about that. But the staff here are excellent, an took our illness seriously. Everyones food an desserts were brought in together so everyone got to eat at the same time, which was great to. As some places don't. Food tasted great, hot very tasty and well presented plenty of choice to. Kids meals were just right good choices an sizes. They have excellent disabled parking and plenty of room for parking, and plenty of room for wheelchairs or walkers. The disabled toilets were very good plenty of room. We were welcomed like family not customers. Thanks to all the staff today for helping me make today very special for my mum she had a fantastic 80th Birthday. Would most definitely recommend The Mitre oak for gatherings and get togethers. Staff are fantastic overall great place for the family, friends etc. Big Thank You again to all staff you were all...
