We visited the Chequers at Crowle for a meal out with my parents after they’d returned from a weekend away for both of their birthdays. We needed somewhere dog friendly and here was very accepting. We booked a table and we’re seated in the bar area where bowls of water were available. The building itself was lovely, plenty of parking available and the gardens look like they’ll be a wonderful place to sit in the summer months. My favourite feature was the open fire. We were seated and we weren’t entirely sure whether service was at the table or at the bar. We waited and looked over the menu before someone took our order for drinks and then again separately for food. I ordered the Bavette Steak medium rare. It was cooked as ordered and the whole meal was beautiful. The peppercorn sauce was the best I’ve had anywhere. It was almost like a gravy. For dessert, I had the chocolate chip cookie cheesecake pot. This felt never ending but in a great way! It was creamy, not too sweet but plenty of it. What knocked it a star was the service. It was a bit slow and somewhat lacking. Maybe they’d had a busy afternoon, perhaps it was busy in the restaurant and we couldn’t see from where we were. We don’t eat out a huge deal so if we visit again, I’ll be happy to edit my review :) Overall, fantastic food!

Update 17/06/2023: Visited again this evening for a meal and really enjoyed the chicken schnitzel, the service from waiting staff was excellent and they were very friendly. There was a bit of a wait on food and especially so for the post-meal coffees, but otherwise was great all-round! Lovely beer garden and a nice, chilled out vibe - beats the usual rowdiness we tend to find at pubs this time of year and was nice to be able to enjoy each other's company. 😃 --- Stunning, picturesque pub set within a tranquil countryside, a real nice spot for drinks. I seem to recall having food here many years ago which was excellent too, but have visited a few times most recently for drinks and always had an excellent pint (Wye Valley all the way!).

From start to finish, I enjoyed everything. The beer garden is beautiful and big with a pleasant outlook over fields. The pub itself is spotless, great bar area and the restaurant area is separate if you want a more country Inn experience. Now, onto the food. Every course was tasty and plentiful. No baby portions here. Just proper food cooked well and presented beautifully. Anyone visiting here must have an epic cheesecake pot......you won't move for an hour afterwards but it's worth it! I also feel it is priced just right as you definitely get what you pay for.

Stopped here for lunch on 6th Sept 2012, had found it by chance having diverted off the M5 and decided to go across country using smaller roads. Noticed that there were a good number of cars in the car park - always a good sign - and went in. First impressions were very good, the interior has obviously been recently decorated to a high standard. We were immediately greeted in a welcoming & friendly manner. Having said we would like lunch, were offered a choice of sitting in the bar or outside in the garden or in the restaurant, we decided on the restaurant and were then given a choice of table. The extensive menu looked very inviting but we decided on the Tasting Summer Menu of 2 courses for £12 or 3 courses for £15. We both had the Chequers own Fish Goujons with freshly made Tartare Sauce. These were absolutely delicious, with the lightest crispy batter I have ever had. I then had the Pan Fried Hake, Fennel, Bean & Rocket Salad with Triple Cooked Chips, the hake was cooked to perfection and was well accompanied by the salad and home made chips. My wife had the Char Grilled Chicken & Courgettes dressed with Garlic, Basil Oil, & Fresh Lemon Served on a bed of Green & Cannelloni Beans, once again the chicken was cooked to perfection moist and delicious. The salad was a wonderful idea, though for our taste it needed a bit more seasoning to bring the flavours out. I finished with the Chocolate Mousse with White Chocolate & Raspberries, an excellent light chocolate mousse. My wife had the Homemade Bakewell Tart with Summer Berry Ice Cream, the tart was nice and moist with fantastic ice cream. We also decided to try the “Wine tasting Boards” 3 high quality wines for just £5. A great idea which gives you the chance to try 3 glasses of very good wines.

A well run establishment with a skillful chef, worth travelling a long way to enjoy...

Visited with friends for the second time last night, since the refurbishment and reopening earlier this year. Have been very hopeful for the resurrection of The Chequers as an extremely well known and popular pub and eatery in the village, for quite a time. We've been in the village for 14 years and it had a really good reputation when we arrived, it then soon went through some changes of ownership and though various managers tried hard to keep the reputation going, with various degrees of success, it never really got back to where it started, and kind of lost its way, so it was good to hear that the owners of the high standard Forest at Feckenham had brought the premises late last year. They refurbished the place and here we are...

Last night's experience was really impressive. There were 4 of us in the party and everything went perfectly... they got our special table request right (by a window at the front), they were extremely attentive, polite and well, I had no criticism at all, which is unusual. The food was excellent, beautifully presented and we all thoroughly enjoyed our meals. Our orders ranged from sardines, black pudding scotch eggs, Caesar salad, hake and chips, sea bream, calves livers to the rather wonderful Coffee and a Little Sweet for dessert. The white chocolate homemade fudge is to die for.

Even the Purity Ubu draught beer was perfectly kept and the perfect temperature.

Total cost for 4 persons: 4 starters, 4 mains, 4 desserts, 6 drinks including 4 beers and 1 large wine was £140.

Highly recommended, the Chequers has regained...
