Came here after a Sunday morning drive. We was greeted at the door and shown into the restaurant. Very nice modern decor with great view of the river over the road. There is not a great deal of choice from the menu. And there is very little in Vegan/Vegetarian choices. However, the food there is very nice, well presented and full of flavour. The service was excellent, and the staff were very friendly. The price is quite reasonable too. I would give more stars if there was more Vegetarian choices. There is ample parking onsite too. I'm looking forward to returning to see what this place is like in the summer. I also liked that this pub had a room just for families with young children to eat separate from the other diners. I wish most places did this.

Beutiful Inn as you can see from the outside. Small private area inside and decent sized bar and restaurant as well. Seating also outside. Dogs welcome inside as well. Menu to cover all needs and prices on par with likewise businesses. Staff are very warming and welcome any help you need. There is a field behind ( Entry via car park ) for caravan stays. Across the road is a lovely river. Which you can walk along either to your left or the public footpath to your right. Taking you through another caravan site. Which asks you to stick to the tarmac Road through it leading to fields and lovely scenery of the river. Ideal for those who love Fishing.

Not a bad little boozer. Has a sofa next to a fire place as well as a variety of board games. It's probably more of a summer pub as it's next to the river and has plenty of outdoor tables. The let down though is the gents toilet. As you walk through the carpeted toilet lobby, you form an impression of what the toilets will be like. Be prepared to be disappointed. They're similar to public toilets in some seaside town. Cold, smelly and damp. Was almost expecting to see a crack head jacking up in the cubicle.

Food was the worst and just couldn’t eat it the amount of salt used was ridiculous just made your lips numb trying to eat it. Left all 3 meals as it just wasn’t edible unfortunately. When you’re paying high prices you expect to be served meals you can eat. Won’t be going again such a shame to lose such a nice local spot for a meal when the pub itself is delightfully but in current climate can’t afford to pay high prices to have to go home and cook again after what should have been a celebratory meal for my family. I might add I’ve supported this business for years and ASKED about a new menu after months of them saying they were bringing out a new menu I asked politely when they were releasing the new menu as after locals supporting a business like change occasionally. I was told they would send me new menu and that it was coming out that next week ( this was done by PM) at no time did I complain I asked a simple question about a new menu!!! Subsequently to asking they removed me from the Facebook page and then ruined 3 meals! when we still continued to support this business. I’ve attended the quiz night and in all ways tried to be supportive. Your staff were told but were to SCARED to tell the cook!!! Only post on Facebook is on my private page on my own account in my name! Seriously stop sending messages to me telling me I’m banned for complaining I’m not coming again and had no intention of wasting about Ā£50 on food that no one can eat. Edit Conversation of so called menu complaint taken from DM!!

Hi Sarah, thanks for your feedback on Facebook regarding our menu, We do have a refreshed menu coming out in the next few days, it’s currently at the printers. If you wanted me to send you a copy once completed I would be interested in your feedback.

Go for it would be happy to check it out 😁 definitely needs sorting we come all the time and it’s getting boring eating the same meals over and over. We currently sat in the snug.

I will send it over as soon as it’s back from the printers, also always feel free to catch Rico the chef for any ideas for specials you may want to see šŸ™‚

I don’t leave bad reviews lightly but when our meals are deliberately targeted then that’s making it personal and unnecessary especially when we are trying to support a...

Having pre-booked two tables for Halloween, we turn up to find that the tables had not been prepared. The service was poor and un-attentive, despite there being 4 staff on front of house and the restaurant and bar were not busy. We wanted to see a wine menu but none was ever brought, so we eventually order a bottle of Prosecco and a bottle of Shiraz plus other drinks. Approx. 7 minutes later the drinks arrived complete with 2 odd champagne flutes and 3 wine glasses that didn't match (2 large, 1 small! Not great when charging £25 for Prosecco and £18 for Shiraz). We were then given menus but not the set course menu which we had to ask for. Two people chose the set menu. Again we had to ask someone to come and take the food order. The starters arrived and were fine. There was then a long wait before the main course came and the tables were not cleared in preparation. One of the mains was a "Goats cheese paste bake" off the set menu. This turned out to be penne pasted in tomato sauce with a slice of goats cheese on top. It was that dry that the paste was not eaten. Again we had to ask to see a desert menu and then no one came back to take the order. At the end of the evening I ask for the menu but as it happened my father had already been to the bar and paid it. When we got home, I asked him how much it was and he said you don't want to know, before showing me the bill for £188. I studied it, to find that we had been charged twice for the inedible paste bake and full price for all the desert, despite two of them being part of the set price menu. I phoned and left my name and an answer phone message but no one ever...

The Fish and Anchor was recommended by a friend, and although it is an hour’s drive, the Bank holiday weekend was ideal for a drive out to a lovely part of the country and on to have a meal. So, the booking of the table, - easy and a personal confirmation was a pleasant surprise. Upon arrival, a good-sized car park stopped any worrying about scratches being found on the paintwork. What I didn't expect was to be greeted in an incredibly friendly manner. What a relaxed but professional atmosphere. It was obvious the staff are a superb team; the immediate impression; these people know how to deliver a service. The restaurant, it was spotless and well set up. Good start. The menu had a very good selection along with the drinks available. We were not rushed into ordering (perfect for me) but once ordered, the time to serve was 100% acceptable, time for a little chat with the staff and then dinner was served. Having multiple types of order i.e. fish, steak and extras, I was part expecting them to come out together but maybe one had been standing for a short while, the concern was not needed. Both meals cooked to perfection including the hollandaise sauce. Would I go and revisit? Yes, I would. For me it would be on a weekend only because of my travel time. But any locals reading this who has not tried this place, it is certainly worth a try. Thank-you the bar staff, the chef and the sous chef. It was good to be asked what we thought. We will...
