Viaduct Tavern — Restaurant in Wyre Forest

I've been to the Viaduct kidderminster many times and always had a great experience (food/drink/staff/waiting time) but we went bank holiday Monday there was one person serving behind the bar and it appeared the person who was cooking the food was also serving up to the customers, we had a two hour wait which we hadn't been informed of, no napkins, no tomato sauce out I ordered a pint of lemade with a dash orange squash which I had to take back as the lemonade had "gone" which was replaced by a smaller glass, then later I ordered another and was chargered for a lemonade and orange juice, very poor service when the food eventually arrived it was cold and unappealing, the only bright side was my 84year old mother in law really enjoyed the fish and chips (which seemed to be cooked properly) and the space in the pub, which wasn't overly busy! Visited 29th November with my partner and her 85yr old grandmother. Walked in through the door to a "tops must be worn inside" notice on the door. It did get me thinking "oh god what have we arrived at". I couldn't have been more wrong to think that. We walked inside to a noticeable and prominent smell of bleach (or similar cleaning solutions) which was reassuring. The gentleman behind the bar was ever so nice and welcoming to us and invited us to take a seat and look at the menu and made us feel welcomed and relaxed immediately. The drinks were nice and reasonably price and the meals were absolutely delicious. We were looked after from the moment we arrived until the moment we left. Next time we are looking for lunch in the Kidderminster area, the Viaduct will be at the top of our choices to return to and we implore that you do too. Stopped here after a long day at west midland safari park. There was 8 of us 2 families we ordered straight after each other. However one lot of food was bought out and eaten before the other half of us had even recieved the meals. One of us had a beef dinner which was really nice. But when the second lot of meals come they were unable to be eaten. The chips had been heated up a few times and just tasted of oil. The chicken was like rubber and the salad was dry as if it had been sitting out for hours. My partner left a full mixed grill. As the children wanted dessert we braved it, and was disappointed yet again.. ordered 4 fudge cakes first of all only 3 were bought out.
