Quite genuinely the only reason I’m giving this place 5 stars is because of our server, Dennis. He was very friendly and kind. He was really the only one working while other employees behind the counter stood around doing anything but working. The main reason though is because of the manager on shift tonight, Kayla. We saw Dennis doing not only his job but appeared to be doing others jobs as well. A group of about 6 people came in to be seated and he took them to a bigger booth, and as he did, Kayla, the manager, screamed from the back of the kitchen area at Dennis, very disrespectfully, “Do not seat them there, that’s so and so’s section” and some other things I couldn’t make out from where we were seated. The other employees were seen by Kayla not working when she came out from where she was yelling, and they all were laughing at Dennis for being yelled at I guess. The fact that the other employees standing around not working was acceptable to her but Dennis doing pretty much everything wasn’t enough was ridiculous. I understand that mistakes are made, and they need to be corrected but do it in private and not in front of everyone. Especially not in the way she did. It was very disrespectful to not just him but to everyone that was there at the time. My friend and I debated on leaving because of it but stayed so that we could make sure Dennis got his tip that we left him that night. He is by far the best server we’ve had at just about any restaurant so far. I’ve been here other nights too that other managers on shift have been the same way. Definitely will not be coming back if this is how things continue to be. Rave for Dennis,...
Read moreIm a big Denny's fan and we have two in the Abilene area, I normally do the south side Denny's but it went downhill so bad I stopped going. I returned recently and under new management they're back to being awesome. I took my family to the overland trails Denny's because I'm always leary of night shift because they tend to be very less than in service and food. I was a waitress and bartender for year's and even owned my own diner years ago so I understand the restaurant business so I know the job I've done it. The overland trails Denny's was not busy when we arrived at about 10 pm, they seemed to be fully staffed the manager was even there while we were waiting to be seated. She let staff know that they had customers as she was leaving. The entire place was a mess, spill's and a floor so slick I almost fell several times. The tables were cleaned off dishes wise but not wiped down ours included. Our waitress was polite and friendly but very scarce, it took awhile to order then awhile for the food to arrive and we didn't get our refills until we we're ready to leave AFTER hunting down a waitress and asking for refills and then had to ask AGAIN when we finally saw her again. The food was still Denny's quality good but the service and cleanliness was extremely lacking. Our bill was 65.00 which was the price of everything but I was greatly disappointed in the service and cleanliness. It was the same reason I stopped going to Denny's. I absolutely love y'all's menu and the quality and value of the food, please fix these problems so I can...
Read moreApril 3, 2025 - Landed from Abilene Regional Airport, then went straight to Denny’s for dinner. We were there around 10:15 to 10:30 pm.
We ordered their 2 specials. Triple burger and Fish/ Chips.
Fish and Chips - Not recommended. The picture from the menu is totally different from the one that we ordered. The fish were burnt, the broccoli are old and cold. When our orders arrived, the waitress was out of balanced and the fries went to the table. I have to wait for the fries replacement for a long time and I have to wait for the tartar sauce for a LONG TIME. The fish was almost done when the fries and tartar sauce arrived. Then when my husband trying to use the tartar sauce , still sealed. We have to open and remove the seal from the inside .
The tartar sauce suppose to be included automatically since this is a fish order.
We have to wait for our drinks to be refilled. We have to ask for it. I asked for my water to be refilled, then she left. Then I have to call her immediately so she can refill my husband’s drink as well. Not sure if she’s absent minded.
Then, finally when we were done eating, she dropped by and asked if everything are ok. We said no, I explained everything from Above. She apologized and said she’s been running around and doing something else.
ATTN Denny’s Manager, if your customers are a “bother” to your employees, just close it down. This is the worst experience we...
