Saturday lunch just before noon. Ordered a burger with curds and a kids tender meal - I go simple when I'm out by myself with a baby a a preschooler. Waitress was great, food came out semi-timely. Kids meal was super hot and my food was a temperature indicative of its arrival to the kitchen window around the time the kids meal was lowered into the fryer. I tore the strips apart so they could cool, and noted that they felt and smelled overcooked, but I (fail on my part) hoped they were good enough for a 5 year old palate. I was wrong. I ate my food quickly but by the time I made it halfway through the curds, they were cold. I powered through, because nursing moms are hungry, lol. Took me what felt like 20 years to get the reason out of my kid of why he wasn't eating the strips (it tasted burnt). He ate the very middle of one and I cut the other one smaller to try and get the middle out so he could try to eat that. A lot of work for a meal I didn't make. The waitress mentioned when I said something that since they do breakfast on Saturdays this was the first time today they'd used the fryer, and much like a first pancake of the day, this might've been a dud. She offered to bring him something else but by then he was over it and just said he was done eating. The manager declined her request to give a discount for the kids meal because they said he had "eaten most of it". I think they meant because I had eaten most of his fries waiting for the waitress to come back after my kid said he was just done, but whatever. I wasn't going to reassemble the strips and argue about it. I'm tired. I still left a 20% tip because I'm not a jerk and it wasn't her fault. It was the kitchen and the manager, but we won't be back. I'm sure the food is normally good there, but I wouldn't ever suggest ordering from the lunch menu if they're offering breakfast that day. Seems like they can't do both well at the same time. I feel like I paid $33 after tip for a lukewarm lunch for one. Major bummer. Both of my stars go to the waitress. She was sweet and seemed to try. Only plus out of...
Read moreThe food was great and the service and the atmosphere was really friendly. The wings were large and crispy, all dummies. The burger was good, a little over cooked. The staff was stressed, over worked, and busy but was still nice. The table to the left of us, the table to the right of us, and our order all had mistakes on them. I'm not sure if the server should have written down the order or if the kitchen for it wrong but it was error filled experience. Communication would have made the experience much better. A simple sticky note on the menu indicating that the prices may no longer be accurate would have been nice since the wings were two dollars more and the fish and chips was three dollars more. Plus the fish and chips did not come with cole slaw, as stated, and when we asked the person who delivered the food about it, she said they were out and didn't offer a substitution, which they have cottage cheese and could have substituted, or they could have at least lied and said they gave her more fries. I agree with other reviews the fries are good. Tall drinks are served in low ball glasses unless it is a margarita or long island iced tea then it is served in a pint glass; I will never understand this. If the customer wants a tall, without more alcohol just more mix, why can't you serve every drink in a pint glass? The well vodka drinks were $4, which is not bad, but you should be able to afford a little bit more ice and mix to make a drink enjoyable. I would say that we will be back because of the location, but I don't know how soon and I will expect the menu to be wrong, the drinks to be small, but everything...
Read moreDefinitely a place I'd like to see succeed, but it has some cards stacked against it. The location has been a head-scratcher since the signs went up, it's on the outside edge of town on Old-6, away from the heavy N/S traffic on 169. Even so, the lot is almost always busy - which is good for the restaurant but also is the biggest problem with the location. The parking lot rapidly starts looking like either the junk-yard south of De Soto, or the used wrecked-car lot north of De Soto. If either lot was exclusively stocked with black F-150/ Dodge Rams and Equinoxes - with the occasional Lexus. Navigating anything larger than a bicycle through the lot is not quite impossible from 5:30pm to 7:30pm. It's usually easiest to park behind the junk-store and walk around the buildings.
Food quality is very much a matter of opinion. Part of the menu looks like bar classic Sysco heat-and-eat, particularly the crinkle fries and fried sandy's. I've been told the burgers are hand-made, but they tend to be dense and sometimes they look a bit Sysco'y pre-frozen puckish. You need to know your market, so take my food opinion with a grain of salt! People who are accomplished cooks are usually not impressed with bar-grub. I definitely have friends who think the burgers are fantastic, and I am definitely picky. Less then perfect burgers may be learning curve on the cook staff - or just my habit of only stopping in when the parking lot is not-full, so the cook may be distracted doing...
