First time visiting this past Saturday and what an experience. This place is way up on the mountains of Adjuntas which means the roads are narrow and curvy! Parking is scarce and you may end up parking on the side of the road. The restaurant is pretty big and the owner has done a good job on decorating it and working the flow of people. They have a cute bar on the top level, next to the small area where they prepare the pizzas (only thing on the menu, by the way, and one size so don't expect a variety of food items here). The place was pretty crowded so we knew we would have to wait to get our pizza...BUT...we waited 2 long and frustrating hours!!! We ordered at 6pm and received our pizza at 8pm. They only prep 7 pizzas at a time and you can imagine if a large party arrives and orders a few pizzas before you, your wait is even longer. The large table that ordered after us got their orders first even though their ticket was #26 and ours was #22...go figure! We even asked a few times on the timing of the order and the girl at the register would only shrug her shoulders. Needless to say we were tired, hungry and disappointed with the whole experience. Thank God the pizza was good but definitely not worth a 2 hour wait. Go for the beautiful mountain views and maybe a mojito. Stay if you have time to sit around for a few hours waiting for...
Read moreWe had the opportunity to visit El Campo es Leña when traveling the Cordillera Central, before the pandemic and the earthquakes. We were celebrating our anniversary and wanted to go kayaking to a lake in Adjuntas and of course, visit this place. Heard many positive things about the pizza and wanted to try it. My wife is a pizza lover and this was top priority on our list.
We had to wait in line for a while. Yes, it is very popular and that is a great indication. What better excuse to try the local juices and drinks while we wait. My wife doesn't drink alcohol and she ordered parcha. I ordered "un leñazo". This is the house specialty drink and it does contains alcohol. What an awesome drink! I don't know how they make it, but it is really good. We even met the owner, Puffay. What a great guy! He spent some time with us, told us the history of the place and even invited us to drinks!
In my wife's opinion, the pizza is magnificent! I really liked it too. Fresh ingredients and the leña taste are the key differentiators. The price was very reasonable and we will go back for more pizza...
Read moreThis place can be a bit tricky to get to, specially if you don't like driving in the mountains, but I say is worth the drive as you do get to enjoy the view.
Is one of the few places that make pizza using wood oven still, which makes it unique and at the same time it gets full. You will have a long wait to get your order so be prepare for it (by long I mean upwards of two hours) and is the reason for my 3 stars on service and not cause of staff.
As for the food, the menu is only pizza (no appetizer or anything). Right beside the restaurant they have another business where they sell smaller item so if looking to kill time and have a small bite before the pizza you can head there.
As for the taste the pizza does have an unique taste and they have plenty of combination you can ask for and they don't skimp on the ingredients either.
I do recommend it foe the experience of wood oven pizza, but be prepare for...
