I called ahead the day of my 8/24 6:30 reservation as a courtesy since I was running 5 mins late. When they picked up, they first claimed that I made it for the following weekend 8/30 and hung up on me as I pulled my confirmation emails. When I responded to their 8/24 6:30 reservation confirmation (sent by Sarah on 8/15) and followed up with a call, they then said it was cancelled since they couldnt guarantee reservations if I don’t pay in advance as restaurant policy. They also mentioned this was communicated via email - I pulled my emails again (see below) and there was no mention there nor their website. We tried calling once more, but were sent straight to voicemail. We are disappointed about this situation as we were very excited to come. I’m sure this place is decent, but it stings that they handled this mishap the way they did - attempting to deceive us. I am willing to be proven wrong about them not communicating this to me, but so far the attached screenshots is all we have. They had every opportunity to remediate this the night of, as we planned our 2 night stay in Rincon (out of 12 days in PR) around this dinner, but they even refused to acknowledge their mistake or to squeeze us in. They only acknowledged the error on their part the next morning - though they did offer apologies and a free dinner to make up for it (unfortunately we were back in the States for the next opportunity). Had it not been for this failed experience we were looking forward to, we wouldn’t have spent time in Rincon at all - theres many other towns in Puerto Rico with beautiful beaches frequented by locals. What did we learn? This incident galvanized our resolve to only support Boricua & other Caribbean owned/operated restaurants in PR from now on. Shout out to De Raíz in Mayagüez for accommodating us last minute, hearing our story, and even going so far as offering free champagne as a gesture to make up where RM failed. THAT is the hospitality and service that is distinctive of our culture, and something this *hospitality* venture needs to learn. As a native of PR, I implore you to reconsider supporting this place and instead go to a PR owned business. La Cocina al Fondo in Santurce also comes to mind as another great alternative run by Puerto Rican women with a James Beard award under their belt - and phenomenal service. Bacoa, Vianda, Celeste, Gallo Pinto, the small restaurants of Boquerón and Parguera - the alternatives are endless.

Where else can you have a laid back fine dining experience that doesn’t take 4 hours to get through? We’ve been dining at Reina Mora for 6 years and they continue to put out the hits with consistency. Chef Alex has a unique skill in extracting the most flavor out of the local and in-season ingredients he uses. Everything is fresh and flavorful, and you won’t leave hungry. His food has the ability to give you the comfort of home while challenging you to explore new ingredients and techniques. His wife, Sarah, is the front of the house and provides a warm, welcoming service throughout your meal. They’re a lovely couple who have dedicated themselves to showcasing the best ingredients the island has to offer. This is a local favorite and many people visit weekly and monthly. Reina Mora also continues to expand their offerings to give customers the most enjoyable experience possible. If you’re in the area check their website for reservations and plan ahead to dine here. If traveling solo or in a pair, I recommend sitting at the community table.

I recently had the pleasure of experiencing a four-course dinner with wine pairings at Reina Mora, and it was nothing short of exceptional. Each course was thoughtfully crafted, showcasing a beautiful balance of local fair and flavors. The wine pairings enhanced each dish without overpowering them. The intimate ambiance added to the magic of the evening. The lighting was warm and inviting (and the music present but not so loud everyone shouts to be heard), and the attentive but unobtrusive service made us feel welcome and cared for. Every detail, from the pacing of the courses to the presentation of each dish, was executed flawlessly. Also noteworthy, I left full. This wasn’t just a meal—it was an adventure. I can’t recommend Reina Mora highly enough for anyone looking for a memorable fine dining experience. I waited a year to dine here and it was 100% worth the wait. I will absolutely be back!

Wow. What an absolute gem of a place. Phenomenal food, truly. Wonderfully intimate space, you feel like you’re having dinner at a friends home. Alex and Sarah really make you feel welcome and the whole experience is curated. The farm to table feeling here comes through with every bite. Such a creative and beautiful celebration of all the fruit, vegetables, and animals of Puerto Rico!

Food: seriously some of the best food I’ve ever had. Alex accommodated our vegetarian needs and we seriously were speechless with every bite! The smoked pumpkin with slow braised onions…might be the best thing I’ve ever had in my life, no joke. Half way through dinner we contemplated staying for the second seating and eating everything again!

Beverage: If you’re looking for a 100 bottle wine list…this place isn’t for you. If you’re looking for 4-8 bottles of great wine at several super approachable price points, this is the place!

Finer points: two routes to get there from Rincon, one more windy than the other! We took the windy way there and the less windy way back :) You reserve via form online, Sarah is super prompt to confirm, pay before you arrive and then can pay for beverage and gratuity using your phone when you’re there, super easy!

10/10 - can’t recommend enough, love what they are doing to showcase the bounty of...

As someone who travels the world in search of exceptional food, I can honestly say Reina Mora is in a league of its own. From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted with an atmosphere that feels both elegant and welcoming.

The food here is simply amazing. Each dish is a work of art—Alex, the chef, is clearly a genius in the kitchen. The flavors are bold and perfectly balanced, and you can tell that every ingredient is fresh and thoughtfully chosen. He consistently goes above and beyond to accommodate my vegetarian diet, crafting dishes that are simply the most delicious I’ve ever tasted. The presentation of the dishes is just stunning; it’s almost too beautiful to eat (but you won’t be able to resist!).

Sarah, who manages everything with remarkable skill and warmth, truly makes the evening special. Her attentive and friendly service makes you feel right at home, and her passion for creating a memorable dining experience shines through. The wine pairings are spot-on, enhancing each course and making the whole experience even better.

In my travels, I’ve dined in many incredible places, but nothing compares to the magic of Reina Mora. It’s a must-visit for anyone who appreciates top-notch food and exceptional service.

Thank you, Sarah and Alex, for bringing us the finest dining experience the island...
