This place has been around since 1957, and it looks like that! It has a very unique feel to it and definitely is just a hole in the wall, type of shack diner. It's located right smack dab in the middle of Aikens Horse District. It's just a very open floor plan with peeling paint pretty much everywhere. There's a huge amount of history up on the walls dealing with horse racing, especially in the Aiken area. The kitchen kind of gives you a grandma's kitchen feel. We understand that this is a very local Patron restaurant. There was a nice elderly lady working the kitchen and she took our order. Looks like she pretty much makes everything from scratch and told us that since we ordered hot cakes, it would take a while for them to come out. And that was quite true! Matter of fact, 3 other gentlemen came in, ordered eggs and bacon, got their food, ate it, and left before we still got ours. A nice gentleman wheeled our food out to us on a tray and gave us all our food. We were pretty happy with everything, I thought They had some of the best grits I've ever had. Do be aware that:
Cash Only Need to bus yourself Can go into the kitchen to refill your water or coffee.
If you like divy type places, this is a must go for you. If you're a horse person, it's also a great place to check out. I'm not sure if I would make it a regular, but I could see myself...

Rating: 5/5 stars
I've been to my fair share of greasy spoons, but none have compared to this hometown gem. Located down a dirt road, you'd expect a rough-around-the-edges kind of place, but what you get is so much more. As soon as you walk through the door, you're greeted with warm smiles that set the tone for a fantastic dining experience.
The kitchen is run by generations of family members, each one bringing their own love and dedication to every meal. The original cook is a master of her craft, pouring her heart and soul into every dish that comes out of the kitchen. Watching her move around the kitchen with what appears to be her great-grandchildren is a beautiful sight - it's clear that values are being passed down through the generations.
What sets this place apart is the palpable sense of love and passion that goes into every meal. You can feel it in the atmosphere, and it's reflected in the food, which is cooked to perfection every time. This isn't just a meal - it's an experience that leaves you feeling full and grateful.
I've written many reviews, but this one is my favorite thus far. If you're looking for a truly special dining experience, look no further. This hidden gem is worth driving down that...
Read moreOK. The idea of "learning a valuable lesson" from Betsy Lamb's review is absurd for starters. It's a restaurant and should be operated as such. I don't mind waiting for food to a point but waiting in a place with no air conditioning or even open windows and finding out 45 minutes after ordering that your food hasn't even been started yet is, again, absurd. Furthermore, asking after that long when my toddler is sweating to death isn't something to be punished for by the staff. Lastly, having staff respond with a horrible attitude for asking is just completely uncalled for. Especially when the staff flat out lies about saying it would be a long wait from the start. All I was told after ordering was that I paid after. Food probably would have been really good but certainly not worth dealing with...
